Zeitegist and party pup, those are either of you two’s nuttiest posts ever or the most profound. Not because of the predictions of the country going to hell, but for the realization that they are all the same, only the logo is different.
Initially I thought you guys were reading bill simmons’ article about the best new drink invention of the year and decided to try a few. In case you missed it, you make an arnold palmer (ice tea and lemonade) then add two shots of vodka and call it a john daly. I’m still laughing inside about it.
Staying apolitical, your guy sucked, their guy sucks and most of the past guys sucked, the next few guys or gals will suck too, but all in different ways. We will survive, we won’t become russia or join the third world, the country is no stranger to crappy politicians, in fact it is essential. If a president had a 99% approval rating, regardless of their party, that would scare me. As long as half the country is complaining, all is well, that’s the beauty of the two party system, they couldn’t agree on how to pick up $100 bills off the ground, if they could, they would actually have some power to affect my life.
This calls for a little LAO TZU:
“Be Content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you”
“One who is too insistent on his own views, finds few to agree with him.”
and the most applicable
“The wicked leader is he who the people despise. The good leader is he who the people revere. The great leader is he who the people say, ‘We did it ourselves.’ ”

August 29, 2009 at 1:01 PM #450521ZeitgeistParticipantPup is always profound. I am usually nutty. It is the difference between mounds and almond joy. Both are profoundly good. By the way, I do believe there is evil. Biblical evil. It is nice to think that man is basically good or even the tabula rasa theory is valid, but it is just not so. There is too much genetic code programmed in. Some of the codes have a huge predilection for evil that can be expressed given the right environment. Hitler and Stalin had the right historical time that allowed the expression. Allan, Pup and I continue to rail against the current administration’s incursions into extreme socialism at the expense of basic freedoms. Obama may be well meaning, but that is no reason to give him a pass. This country is a republic and I refuse to be ruled by an oligarchy of pseudo intellectuals, steeped in Marxism and fueled by megalomania from the left. His version of change is not working for me.
