I believe that voting is run by the county, not the city. If you lived outside the county of San Diego but your polling place was in the county of San Diego, I would think that was weird.
As mentioned – the Registrar of Voters is a county department – not city.
The polling location may support multiple precincts. Each precinct will only have the ballots for races/initiatives for that precinct.
AFAIK – precincts will not cross city lines.
Thanks you two. It did not occur to me that a single polling location could support multiple precincts. Very interesting; I will also ask the poll workers and see what explanation they give. 🙂
