    A well-planned downtown night often includes dinner in Hillcrest but I’ve never tried Ono. With three votes it must be good!

    Thanks for the advice. My wife and I actually love Mr Sushi (silly name, good food) in PB. We haven’t been there since we moved to VA three years ago, but that was always our favorite. Thanks for all the advice.

    For the quick sushi fix you can’t beat Mitsuwa and Nijiya market. Great lunches and afternoon snacks on the weekends. The Ba-chans make some great bentos and sushi paks.

    Sushi Ota on Mission Bay Drive across from Rubio’s in a dumpy little strip mall is the best! It is 100% authentic. You can easily get in with a reservation. In fact, we are going on 12/19 to celebrate my birthday. You don’t have to be Japanese as noted below. Just call and make a reservation. Sushi Ota just received the Zagat award for best restaurant in San Diego. If you want it authentic, casual and fresh… Sushi Ota under the guidance of Ota-San– make a reservation: (858) 270-5670.
