gandalf, I never say the current tax system is FAIR. I also never say Obama’s positions will DESTROY capitalism. Frankly, you’re just STUPID for putting those words in my mouth.
If Obama proposed something like a flat tax + VAT or other more radically different tax system than what we have now, then I can agree with that. He’s not TRYING to close those loop holes, all he’s doing is “spreading the wealth around”.
Tell me how is it fair for a guy who’s making minimum wage, baring getting by, who have to buy into is company’s health care plan. While the guy who’s not working will get free health care from the government?
Me being dishonest? That’s rich. I should pay more taxes so the government could bail out more banks? You should listen to your own advice.

No I do not. If you look at their two tax plans, you’ll see you’ll pay less taxes w/ McCain’s plan if your HHI is more than $112K. Do your research. How do you make less than $112K and be living in CV and drive a Prius? No wonder you what to “spread the wealth around”.[/quote]Actually I didn’t realize that the tax rate under McCain would be lower for those making over $112K. It doesn’t matter though. A few hundred or a few thousand in taxes either way isn’t going to affect my vote.
I will still vote for Obama because Republicans have distorted conservatism into socialism for the rich. Just like it makes you ill to think about a poor child getting a reduced-priced lunch, it makes me ill thinking about some crooked 25-year old investment banker driving around in a Maserati receiving millions in a bailout from Bush. I find it totally unconscionable and disgusting and it will be a long time before I ever vote for another Republican to be President. There is just too much at stake.

October 17, 2008 at 10:39 AM #288673kev374ParticipantIf Joe the Plumber is making over $250k (gross or net doesn’t matter) then he is quite well off, I don’t consider that middle class AT ALL by any definition. Since when did the middle class earn over 1/4 million dollars a year?
