ParticipantI’d rather get the hendo hoverboard. Google it. Its pretty cool

ParticipantSome friction can be a good thing. Without friction some sort of track is required, think train track. I’ve already fallen off one of those hover boards and it was not fun. If it wasn’t for back to the future I’m sure they would be called something else like mini segway.

ParticipantDoes the battery explode while riding or when left charging longer than it is supposed to? Directions say to unplug it when fully charged.

Lithium batteries can be extremely dangerous, especially when they are part of a cheap Chinese made product.
A “safe” lithium battery requires expensive components within the battery to detect temperatures during charging and discharging as well as expensive charging components that charge the battery at the correct rate without over filling it and while also balancing the charge across the cells. On top of that, you need to produce the battery properly using quality components and also make sure the battery did not get damaged during manufacture and also protect it post manufacture. You will not find any of these things in a cheap Chinese product! Use caution when charging them!
One of my hobbies is flying RC helicopters, and I buy the cheap Chinese knockoffs because it costs less when you inevitably crash it.
I do not charge these batteries in the house, they get charged outside and are stored in the fireplace. Search for “lithium battery on fire” and you’ll see why. There’s a reason high quality batteries cost over 3 times more than low quality ones.

ParticipantI’d say the biggest factor is thermal design which I’m sure is lacking in all of the “hoverboards”, without proper cooling no battery is going to perform well. That is why Tesla liquid cools theirs.
