Homosexuality is a behavior, not an eye or hair color.

April 27, 2011 at 10:09 PM #689845scaredyclassicParticipantim pretty sure lifelong monagomous heterosexuality isnt normal either. i think it’s in the bible. im supposed to have a lot of variety in wives, at least that seemed to be the plan. i definitely dont want my kids taught that 60 year heteromongamy is normal. how will they fully people the earth if they stick with just one chick? where i do i check the opt out form?
we probably shouldnt be teaching that anything human is normal.
humans are just one big freak show after all…

Are you sure, paramount? When did you decide to be straight? Nothing genetic about it? Seems to me, homosexuality is a part of the human condition. I think the figure is statistically about 10%, about 1 out of 10 kids sitting in that history class.
Setting personal journeys aside, is it really that offensive to add a couple of paragraphs about the gay rights movement to an American History textbook? The struggle for gay rights is part of our country’s history. Personally, I don’t have any problem with it.
