Sometimes, I’m out in the sun on long horse rides.
I’m sun sensitive and I wear sun hats. But I’m afraid that someone will see me and think that I’m Muslim and shoot me. When you ride in the back country, you never know what characters with guns you encounter.
Imagine if I were to wear a Kaffiyeh like in the Middle East. It’s very effective sun headdress for the desert (which South California pretty much is).
For example if you’re going to visit the Pyramids of Egypt (or even Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon) you’re better off covering yourself up rather than walking around in the desert in shorts and tanktops like the silly tourists do.
Personally, I feel that that Kaffiyeh I an option that I don’t have thanks to the controversy over religion.

I think real American south rednecks would refer to East San Diego County rednecks as ‘city folk’.
