I have had an account with Monex Deposit Company for over ten years. I traded precious metals for a while and made some good money. After taking profits, I just kept my money there. They have paid me as much as 7% interest and as little as 3% interest on my cash while banks typically paid 2 to 3 points lower. I still have a substantial amount of cash there as I do in the controversial Millennium bank account. I receive 5% in the Monex account which is comparable to the best bank interest at the present. This does not include APY. Have I just been lucky the last ten years and my luck is soon to run out?

Monex is not a bank, they do not have FDIC insurance, so I sure HOPE you’re getting better interest than at a bank. If they were ever to go under you are SOL.

Both my crystal ball and specially my readings point to a sad reality that money institutions have already started a bank run. These institutions (pension funds, mutual funds, insurance funds, etc) have tried to liquidate into cash or simply have done a cash out and, voila, it no longer is easy to take cash out. Some of these money institutions have been waiting days and days to see the cash materialize or transferred inhouse. They were not totally liquidating yet – they were just testing the waters by withdrawing portions of their balances. Will these revelations make them more paranoid?

However, no need to panic for us little peons outside of Countrywide because we are not big-money institutions.
