Wow. Have we turned into a nation of hysterical little bitches, or what? So, one dude flying a single engined plane into the IRS building in Austin, TX now presages a wave of kamikaze attacks across America?
Please. America needs to take a deep breath, untwist our little knickers and grow up. This kind of pathetic whelping is exactly why we have this childish dependence on Big Government to protect us from all the evils of the big, bad world.
Read a little US history and realize that this kind of thing is nothing new and has been going on since the birth of the republic (Shays’ Rebellion anyone?).

Didn’t Bush start 2 wars costing trillions and setup a huge security apparatus to prevent future terrorism?
You know, we had that crazy professor in Alabama and now that crazy pilot, so I guess we need to do a full security background on everyone, just in case.
Oh, and people in financial difficulty with foreclosures could be subject to blackmail and foreign subversion. We’d better fire them from their jobs lets they cause destruction from the inside. Better keep an eye on them too and ask the neighbors to be vigilant for crazy behavior.

February 18, 2010 at 2:32 PM #514560Allan from FallbrookParticipantBrian: Riiiiight. So I guess we’re in agreement here? Because my point was that all the shit you just enumerated is completely pointless.
And, Brian? Read some history. That “National Security State” you reference? Its been under construction since the end of WWII. Read some James Bamford; it’ll be illuminating, especially for a “progressive” like yourself.
