ParticipantThe true sign that this is wrong behavior trying to be justified and rationalized by the gentleman is the long and lengthy discourse on the lemons and the lemon tree.
Let’s face it you can just about rationalize anything to soothe your conscience and this is rampant amonsgst the religious crowd with their laws and dogmas.
The Bible says that you have to follow ALL OF THE LAW to be righteous…has anyone out there done this? Anyone want to come forth?
Tithe to your children’s future…..
Sincerely, Contraman

ParticipantI agree w/stansd and meadandale – using someone else’s broadband connection w/o paying the internet provider is stealing, plain and simple. A better analogy might be making copies of software licensed to your employer for your own personal, non-workrelated use.

ParticipantNow we are really off topic, but only the Old Testatment law says that. The new says we are all screwed up, and live in the freedom that those screw ups have been covered.
Based on that I will come forward as righteous…not on my own actions, which are as rotten as the next bloke, but based on the death of my savior who has covered them on the cross.
Let the religious heretic bashing begin.

ParticipantLemon tree analogy or biblical law do not overide the California Penal Code.
Section 593d.
any person who, for the purpose of intercepting, receiving, or using any program or other service carried by a multichannel video or information services provider that the person is not authorized by that provider to receive or use, commits any of the following acts is guilty of a
public offense.June 27, 2007 at 10:40 AM #62501temeculaguy

ParticipantTithe to your children’s future…..
This is the best advice I have heard yet… Don’t count on charity OR divine intervention when it comes time to start writing those college checks.

My guess is that the “service providers” service stops at the end of a wire entering the house, with a contract to provide a certain amount of bandwidth over that wire. The wireless access point likely belongs to the neighbor, and he can at his discression divy up his bandwidth with his own networking equipment any way he sees fit. Sharing with the neighbor would be no different legally than sharing with a family member/roommate. Steal access from Sprint or Verizon and the above would apply.
