There are a few property management companies out there also but most of them will put their listings on CL anyway. Driving around while a royal pain has its rewards.
If you have anywhere in particular you like, let me know. i live right in the middle of all that and know of quite a few rentals in the area. I could talk to some people to see if anyhting interesting is coming up for you….gratis of course.

This one is not 2,500 sf, but sounds pretty close:

North County Times:
Also, don’t be afraid to negotiate. If you have excellent credit and references, make a deal. Offer to pre-pay maybe 3-6 months at a time, and sign a longer lease if desired, in return for lower rent. Lowball, lowball, lowball.
Also, check your LL’s references and credit, if possible.
Remember, your competition will largely be deadbeats who’ve stopped paying their mortgages and were finally evicted.
Good luck!
