Which blogs do you guys read? This blog is obviously a good one and there are several good blogs linked to in the “Other bubble bloggers” area.

The ones that I’ve found to be the most informative and which I try to read every day are:

(1) Mr. Mortgage ~ http://mrmortgage.ml-implode.com/

Mr. Mortgage always has good data and analysis related to housing and mortgages. Realtors tend not to like this blog as Mr. Mortgage is constantly blogging about how a a bottom in the housing market is a ways out.

(2) Mish’s Global Economic Trend Analysis ~ http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/

Mish seems to find the most interesting stories related to the economic downturn and then he usually adds his own take on the story. Good stuff. His most recent entry is how Calpers (the CA pension fund) is set to report a loss of 103% on its residential investments. Way to go Calpers!

(3) Naked Capitalism ~ http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/

Another blog that finds interesting stories and then adds additional commentary. I like this blog because they seem to find the esoteric stuff (like stories on the Baltic Shipping Index) which I likely wouldn’t hear about otherwise.

(4) Jim Rogers blog ~ http://jimrogers-investments.blogspot.com/

It doesn’t appear that this blog is actually written by Jim Rogers, but it does seem to post excerpts and transcripts every time Jim does an interview. Jim made a pretty good call on the Yen recently (up 12% or so in a month) but he was way early on oil. Jim created a commodities index and I believe he runs a few commodities funds, so he does appear to have a vested interest in people buying commodities.

(5) Calculated Risk ~ http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/

There were at least two bloggers on this site, and the most popular and active one (Tanta) recently passed away, so I’m not sure if this blog will stay on my daily read list.

This guy used to work for Microsoft and created a bug-tracking database in his spare time. He found that his bug-tracking database was selling pretty well, cashed out of Microsoft, and started his own company. He is now selling several products and has several employees. There’s some pretty interesting stuff in the archives.

These are all worth reading if for no other reason than you can get alternative points of view. Then decide for yourself which are more logical. I’ve followed Mish for a while and the guy not only thinks outside the box, but his logic and data are excellent. Mr Mortgage can be a bit one-sided, but he give data and insight that’s really hard to get anywhere else!! Jim Rogers is way over rated, IMO.
Naked is interesting. Have you checked out Jesse? He’s got some thinking that’s not mainstream and he’s not tin foily.

Alternative points of view? C’mon those are all the same points of view. If you want alternative points of view you need to listen to the bulls also no matter how wrong they are they will help you achieve a balanced perspective.
