Draft Bailout Plan Released: 700 billion transfer from the taxpayers

In sum, according to the plan Paulson can purchase up to 700 billion of mortgage securities. Notably, Paulson’s decision is NOT reviewable by a court of law, so in essence he alone has the authority to blow 700 billion of taxpayer money to buy toxic waste mortgages on his decision alone, without review.
Incredible, at least we should have a debate on whether this is really necessary and why the h..l none of the perps of these financial schemes are being forced to give up their ill-gotten gains and be held accountable.
This fleecing of the taxpayers without any sort of meaningful debate is an outrage and clearly reveals who our government really serves and the extent of its rot.
