In searching for an exact quote I found a bunch of quotes that make me believe Ben Franklin warned us about the current state of housing and toxic loans, how could he have known 250 years later his words would still make sense.
“Tis against some Mens Principle to pay Interest, and seems against others Interest to pay the Principal.”
“Fools multiply folly”
“Creditors have better memories than debtors.”
“Lying rides upon debt’s back.”
“Creditors are a superstitious sect, great observers of set days and times.”
“The borrower is slave to the lender and the debtor to the creditor.”
“Gain may be temporary and uncertain; but ever while you live expense is constant and certain.”
This one just for fun:
“God made beer because he loves us and wants us to be happy.”
