At THIS POINT, is the only reasonble reference the Great Crash of ’29?

Given everything we’ve seen in the last twelve months, I ask you: is the only representative and prudent reference of study the Great Depression of 1929?

We are obviously DUE for a Fool’s Rally, yes, but is it smart to buy stocks long now that we’re down 36%/37% on S7P500/NASDAQ?

I thought on this question today. While my instincts tell me we will have a rally up to at least 1100 on the S&P500 before the year end, but I think it UNWISE to bet money on it. Downside risk is too great.

I plan to increase my gold holdings to 50%, and keep 50% in cash. Then wait for the Fool’s Rally to top out, at say 1100 to 1200 on the S&P500.

Then go short again. That’s the safer, smarter move.

A year ago, I predicted we would hit 1,000 on the S&P500. Today we sliced through that mark like a hot knife through butter. Yikes!

Go to that website and see for yourself how far the stock market fell during the Great Depression, and following years.

CONCLUSION: this stock market is going down AT LEAST 45% from the Oct. ’07 highs, maybe even more before this recession/depression is over.
