20+ jobs at the Chula Vista branch are GONE. This news is coming from the security guard who answered the phone there this morning, when a call was placed to see if they were going to be closing local branches. Of course, there was news yesterday about 3800 IMMEDIATE layoffs…just how many locally?
The phone just rings and rings at the other local branches. Has anyone driven past any local (SD) branches of Town & Country Credit/Mortgage and noticed that they are gone (all?). There may be many additional dozens of laid-off mortgage professionals here this morning.
Anyway, just thought it interesting that here are 20+ people from just one branch who are likely to be in immediate financial crisis. I wish them well, but I also know that job loss equals risk of “house” loss and/or “sell at any price”. I think that our fellow San Diegans are going to have a lot more to worry about than the Padres win/loss record come late September.
