Fire the “man.”
October 28, 2015 at 11:51 AM #790747NotCrankyParticipantHe’s been fired already.
October 28, 2015 at 11:55 AM #790748spdrunParticipantBuh-bye.
October 28, 2015 at 12:02 PM #790749NotCrankyParticipantShe did not pull out a cell phone and get her ass whooped. She was told to leave and was going to fight instead, or maybe go on a hunger strike in that chair. When he touched her she immediately went berserk and got her ass kicked. Not saying it was right to throw her, or even touch her, but don’t make things up.
So looking at her actual individual demeanor and intentions and the problems it was causing for the many , what do you do?
October 28, 2015 at 12:09 PM #790750paramountParticipantIt really speaks to the importance of taking video of police interactions. I’m sure the outcome would have been very different had there not been video.
May be time to get a dash cam.
And being fired is not enough – charges should follow IMO (battery?).
October 28, 2015 at 12:18 PM #790752HobieParticipantOk. How would you remove a disruptive, belligerent child from the classroom? Move the rest of the class to another room? Would any of you have behaved like this kid when you were a kid? We didn’t have cops on campus back then.
October 28, 2015 at 12:19 PM #790753zkParticipantSo what should the officer have done? He couldn’t just stand there and talk to her all day. She’s kind of wedged into her chair there, and untangling her from that without some violence would be difficult, especially with her flailing.
I’m not saying he didn’t do anything wrong. But I am asking those who say he did what they think a better course of action would have been (because it doesn’t really hold water to say he was wrong unless you can say what reasonable option he had).
October 28, 2015 at 12:53 PM #790759scaredyclassicParticipantLet her sit.
October 28, 2015 at 12:57 PM #790761anParticipantThe teacher told her to put her phone away. She refused. The teacher then tell her to leave, she refused. The teacher then call in the principal (or maybe it was vice principal). She was asked to leave by the principal. She refused. So they had to call in the campus police. As a parent, I would be pissed that my kid miss an hour of class time because of some kid who’s inconsiderate and don’t know how to follow the rule. If you don’t want to be in class, just leave. Let those who want to be there have an opportunity to learn.

She doesn’t sound diseuptive. I read the disruption was she briefly took out her phone.
Proportionality?
Why not try the chokehold? She did disobey a teacher and, refuse to leave? Why no criminal charges for trespass against her?

notify parents first that kid if going to be forcibly removed if they do not come down asap.
Then to remove a tiny kid that weighs perhaps 60-70lbs forcibly does not require black belt karate chops, just have 2 officers lift the kid out of the seat, restrain and remove.
The officer her acted like he was tackling some 250lb hardened armed criminal!!
October 28, 2015 at 1:03 PM #790762scaredyclassicParticipantWhy no anal cavity search? Merely flinging her is not going to solve this problem?
Teacher more interested in a pissing contest than teaching.
Not sure what rules apply. If you disobey any order of a teacher, can any level of force be used to extract a student. Can you throw a 10 year old across a room for chewing gum? Why not? How old before we get to whoop their ass?
October 28, 2015 at 1:03 PM #790764anParticipantWhy should there be a problem in the first place. Don’t like to learn? Just leave. Save everyone the hassle of dealing with your inconsiderate ass.
October 28, 2015 at 1:04 PM #790765scaredyclassicParticipantI despise schools.
