    OT: Vote for McCain? Not a chance in hell now…

    I don’t care much for most of the political commentary posted on these forums and for the most part, avoid getting too involved. For a forum that relies so heavily on data and logic, there is too much spin and hypocrisy on either side for most of the commentaries to be worth a damn. Up until this add, I’ve been OK with the prospect that Obama, my preferred presidential candidate, might lose the upcoming election to McCain, but this just made me sick to my stomach:

    Most of the anti-Obama propaganda spewed forth by the RNC has been chalk full of lies and deceit, but have been relatively harmless and at least slightly tasteful (except for the laughable comparison of Obama to Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton, but that was at least good for a laugh). This ad makes Obama up to look like a pedophile while taking what he said so far out of context that his message is completely lost. This is the interview I believe the ad pulled content from:

    I have a 3 yo son and absolutely agree with Obama’s stance on this particular educational issue. Furthermore, regardless of my new found distaste for this Republican presidential campaign, I still don’t know if I agree with the McCain camp’s stance because the ad doesn’t bother to mention what it is.

    So let me get this straight?

    You are not going to vote for McCain because Obama Feels that sex ed, is appropriate for kindergartners. Obama did say this, and may have even signed legislation for it. (i’ll have to check)

    This isn’t a deceptive ad… Apparently you think it makes Obama look like a pedophile, no one else has suggested that.

    If you believe in public schools teaching sex ed to 5 year olds, maybe you will agree with this too?

    Personally, I think sex ed should start much later in school if at all, and ultimately, I feel the parents should make the decision as to how and when their child learns about sex, and sexual preferences. For many people/families, sexuality is a very personal, emotional, and spiritual concept. Having the gov./schools preach/teach my child about that at age 5 is a violation of privacy.
