Participant
Yeah, deadzone. The resets are what we need to watch — not necessarily interest rate resets, but resets to include principal paydown.
Just a slight technicality:
reset = Interest rate change – like with an I/O or amortizing loan that tracks LIBOR or Prime.
recast = When an I/O mortgage becomes fully amortizing. The recast signifies a change in the ‘structure’ of the loan and not just the interest rate. Mortgage modifications or loan modifications are sometimes known as recasts – particularly if I/O to amortizing or amortizing to I/O.ucodegen

Participant
How about comparing the Chinese in China vs the Chinese in America :-). You should check out the test scores of schools here in America for each racial group. You’d be surprise. For example, Asian in Mira Mesa High score 860 on their API test score while White in Torrey Pines High score 852 on their API test score.
And here is another..
Asians in Whitney High are scoring 991. link
Whites in La Canada score at 898, asians at 938, hispanics and latino at 840 link
A lot has to do with the parents and how involved they are with the education of the children. It also doesn’t hurt that several of the parents work at JPL… (drives the focus towards education a bit).Comparative list link

Participant
Two days ago North Korea attacked a civilian fishing village with a barrage of unguided 122mm artillery rockets. These are notoriously inaccurate weapons that have no purpose other than to destroy and terrorize everything in their path without discrimination. At maximum range, these rockets are accurate to within about 1 kilometer of the aiming point — obviously no precision guidance here.
Actually, unguided 122mm artillery rocket rounds are fairly accurate. They are not pin-point accurate though. The hit within a square about 1000ft on a side at full range. Their damage area is about 80sq meters. They are designed to be ‘barrage fired’ against coalesced military force.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BM-21_GradAccuracy aside, these are military weapons that were employed against a town of unarmed civilians.

ParticipantAlaska’s winters are something else.
So cold that on a quiet night, that when you take a hot cup of coffee and throw it in the air. You’ll hear a weak crack sound and the coffee turns instantly to snow before drifting to the ground. (-40F)
So cold that the snow covered roads are no longer slippery.(-20F) (Its like driving on something similar to hard compacted dirt – watch out for where a car has been idling though, like at the stoplights).
