ParticipantYou do feel more freedom to make changes and invest in the house.
You also feel a bigger burden… I remember that feeling of “what have I done” when I signed my first mortgage paper. That faded after successfully making the first couple of payments.
It’s a mixed bag. I’ve only rented for 18 months of the past 16 years. But I definitely felt a lot more freedom to customize an owned house to my needs. Little stuff like putting in custom shelves in the pots/pans cupboard…

ParticipantI think it’s completely ridiculous that she wants something done AFTER THE HOME SOLD AT TRUSTEE SALE.
Did the bank miscommunicate – probably.
But it’s sold. It’s over. Move on… Don’t call Turko.

ParticipantI was under the impression (I could be wrong) that some banks were only approving Short Sales in cases of distress. They were trying to avoid strategic defaulters.
My friends had to give reasons for the short sale to their bank. They had to show hardship.
Whether that makes sense or not, is irrelevant… It is what is happening with some mortgage servicers.
I agree completely with the discussion of entitlement. I hear so much talk about how 16 year old kids NEED their own cars. Kids don’t walk to school or take the bus anymore. And their parents NEED that 3500 sf house for a family of 4. It’s child abuse if kids share a room.
I get blown away daily by the entitlement.
