Participant
Make sure you know the age of the popcorn ceiling. Depending on when it was put in, you may see a variance in cost due to asbestos.
The OP already stated to assume asbestos.UCGal

ParticipantI won’t congratulate you, since you say you don’t want that. But I am optimistic this is a good move for you.
Did you get the yard you wanted?
I have appreciated your NOD postings on SDL – it’s provided some interesting data when I post the foreclosure data… you can see just how long it took to go from NOD to foreclosure. I’m kind of bummed you won’t be doing that anymore… for purely selfish reasons.
I’m sure I’m not the only person curious what zip you purchased in… but I totally understand wanting to keep that private.

ParticipantIIRC, my sister paid around $4000 to have popcorn (w/asbestos) removed from one of her rental properties in 2001. Similar size house.
A coworker had it done on a 1200 sf condo for $1800 in 2003 – but I’m not sure his contractor was properly licensed for asbestos removal.
Both of those jobs included retexturing afterwards.
The issue isn’t the removal… it’s the disposal.
There’s a blog that suggests you *can* legally dispose of it if you hire an EPA certified waste handler…

ParticipantSo home loan prices are going up… when will interest rates go up for savers? CD rates are beyond suckful… as are money market, etc..
Sorry… I’ve got a low home mortgage rate already – so I’m looking for improved interest payment rates on savings.
