ParticipantSimi Valley has a lot of biotech spin offs from Amgen (as well as the movie industry, yea I get it).
There are quite a few Communications and computer industry start-ups there as well (and westlake area).Buildable is being redefined these days but when I look at the large track of vacant mostly flat or small hill along the 76 and east of the 15 along the 78, there is a lot of room L.A. would die to have.
Look at the large home tack planned along the I15 near dear springs road and tell me that would be easier to build on than the land along the 76. (I think that has 2500 homes in the plan community in those hills).Laugh if you want but wait 20 years and we will talk of this again.

ParticipantThere is plenty of land especially in North county, they just don’t want YOU living on it!!

Job centers change, once far off bedroom communities become new hi Tech Job centers all the time.
Irvine, Valencia, Carlsbad, ….. Next !!I could add Simi Valley, Arcadia, even Ausaz & Chino hills these days, all it takes is a few enginerds and some office space.

ParticipantI really don’t know why Facebook is so popular,
I kind of really liked the original Idea of “no one really knows you’re really a dog!”
ARF!! LOL
I mean when employers started asking for your Facebook passwords, that should have been the writing on the wall, these people obviously never read “George Orwell 1984” or watched Brazil.
I could see a kind of revolt against it sometime in the future really.
I mean If my employer required us to have a Facebook account I would quit !!
Other than that anyone paying attention to Europe, seems like the experiment is about to implode.The-Shoveler
ParticipantI find it interesting even the Chinese officials seem to be setting up their families in Australia, Canada and the U.S.A. (even Toronto, and Ottawa Canada) as fast as possible. But I think for the rest of us (the U.S.A.) the real danger is i-clones.
I think it is just a matter of time before you start seeing low cost i-clones everywhere; I am surprised we have not already really. What happens when you base a large part of your economy on small hand held devices made in places with extremely clever people with little to fear.
You maybe able to control things like access in the U.S. but I don’t think it will apply everywhere.sent from my iphone LOL, (just kidding).
Remember Huawei.
Just saying,The-Shoveler
ParticipantHousing is about the same percentage of china’s GDP as the U.S.A. was during the bubble (maybe a little less actually) but they rely on it to employ a large part of migrating workers into the Cities.
Don’t know how much of China’s GDP relies on ipads
Seems if the ipad busts, the U.S. economy will go down about 15% (well looking at the Nasdaq anyway) Well at least SD economy.
(just kidding sort of)So I wonder who is sitting on the bubble.

ParticipantI can’t help to think that we are in trouble when the president says that free trade with south America will enable us to sell more Ipad/Iphones,
I guess our whole economy is based on upselling the next generation ipad.My gosh I think we are in trouble.

ParticipantI could see Nat Gas becoming the main fuel for autos sooner but I could also see plugin Hybrids being a larger part of the mix in 10 years as well as the tech becomes cheaper to manufacture due to scale, innovation etc…

ParticipantThanks for the feedback BG,
I guess sometimes it works sometimes it don’t

ParticipantI have this weird theory, before you can have a market down turn you have to have the majority of side line money invested, my guess is we are not there yet (that way the few in the in-crowd can take advantage), (I know it’s just me),
anyway, My other theory is there is no way they are going to let anything derail the economy right now, china is about all done propping up the world economy so we are the only thing standing in the way of a worldwide collapses, there is no way in heck they are going to let that happen, my guess is Europe will continue to find miraculous and endless sources for buying their bonds no matter how ugly things get until we are in full recovery mode. Anyway that’s my theory (I know it’s just me).
The-Shoveler
ParticipantAll of the above.
First it is not easy to get your money out of china for most citizens, so this is seen as the only investment they can trust and control (you really think you can trust Wall Street, china’s version is much much more corrupt).
Second they have 2 or so billion people over there most of which live in the poor countryside and must move to the cities to survive.
Third they must find about 25 million new jobs every year to keep the masses form revolt (there are riots in china everyday no one in the outside world ever hears about, if we could find 3 million new jobs it would be 2005 all over again to put it into perspective).
Fourth and yet they cannot continue this pace forever.

ParticipantThese guys have it all wrong, they need to make rail lines down the center of all the major freeways and make that work first, then think about high speed rail, the high speed rail will NOT reduce traffic delays.

Participant
i wouldlike to eat exclusively of the citrus, mustard green dandelion here. and maybe the occasionally goat
Thinking about gophers and squirrels along with whatever else it is we have growing diet myself, just need to get a lot better at catching the little beasts.
I am positive we could stay well fed on that diet around here.
But seriously I do like to walk along the beach about once a week, that’s one of nicer things about living in this area.The-Shoveler
