The way it is now is worse than doing nothing. Right now it is an Insurance CEO’s dream come true,
But no excuse for a default/shutdown,

ParticipantSomewhat unrelated but an amazing turn around for the USA,
U.S. is now the world’s biggest oil and gas producer.
The U.S. will end 2013 as the world’s largest producer of petroleum and natural gas, surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia, the Energy Information Administration said Friday.

Actually, the funny thing about smog inspections. There are some zip codes in San Diego county that don’t require a bi-annual smog inspection if you live there but only required at ownership transfers
Dude really?, do you have a list of those Zip’s ?

ParticipantYea Coolness counts but at these prices, it still will remain a niche market for the rather well off.
I don’t think it will go as main stream as say a low end BMW.most can afford 10K more for coolness, but not 30K – 40K.

ParticipantWith 50 MPG hybrids under 20K 5 Dollar gas still looks cheap to a 35K car with similar features.
Still needs to come down a lot more in price.

Participant
Shouldn’t this shutdown be break even scenario?
I mean they’re not paying million + govt workers/contractors.
From what I understand we are just giving some Fed workers a paid holiday, as when it does end (most likely in a few weeks time) most will be paid for the time off.

I actually think there would have been LESS hatred for a public option, since it would have been an expanded public service (there’s precedent for that) rather than being forced to buy a product from one of the more corrupt private industries that exists today.

ParticipantIf the live in the burb’s probably both,

ParticipantI really like the Tesla Biz model, but unless pure EV come down in price considerably I think the Hybrid will dominate as they are dropping in price fast in comparison to pure EV’s.
IMO I see 3-5 dollar Gas available for a very long time.
And diesel hybrids will start to hit the market big time in the next few years.
when your getting 50-75 miles a gallon, 5 dollar gas does not look so expensive if the car is half the price.

ParticipantThe stock or Housing market crash again local municipalities will be dropping like flies.
Some will argue, but this is the real reason the Fed has done what is has the last 7 years or so.
