Just kidding but at least it has to do with the subject.

ParticipantYou don’t need to replace 100% to create huge problems,
just replace 20-30% and see what happens.

ParticipantThe interesting thing is for good or bad California has not even got on the fracking band wagon or even off shore. There is a quite a bit of Oil in the state, Pico canyon is home to the longest continuous producing Oil well in the world.
Well No. 4 continued producing oil for 114 years before it was finally capped in 1990.
Long beach is dripping with the stuff.

ParticipantMaybe it’s time to agree to disagree and split the country into three for four smaller ones.
I can see all the west coast states as one separate country.

ParticipantFunny thing is China is printing more money than anyone else in the world, no one says squat.
(mean while their currency goes up in value because people think they use it to build infrastructure)
All we are doing with this debt ceiling is shooting our currency in the foot, then turning around and shooting our own foot, and say see were even now!! LOL
But seriously this cr@p is what will cause us to lose the world currency status (threating to not pay), not the printing,
These guys are morons,October 16, 2013 at 11:29 AM in reply to: Any of you doing anything to your money market accounts just in case of a default? #766954The-Shoveler
ParticipantWhat is interesting is the almost non-reaction in the markets, So I guess if you pulled out a few weeks ago, you did not miss much.

ParticipantIt’s kind of Ironic, how NOT printing money could be the cause of hyper inflation.

ParticipantI am not too concerned that this will occur (hey but as Mark Twain said)
Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.
Or
“No man’s life, liberty, or property. is safe. while the legislature is in session.”But really if this occurs as I understand it the value of the dollar would plummet, I am not sure how having FDIC would be of too much help versus an insured MM account .

ParticipantNow you got me going on this pomegranate thing,
They are resistant to drought, Gophers don’t like them (this really is helpful)
They have nice flowers once a year and there even supposed to be good for you !
Don’t think you could survive on pomegranates alone however so not really a survival food source (I think).The-Shoveler
ParticipantFrom my experience, the married Office Cube workers eat mostly home prepared food and are not really too fat for the most part (The single ones not so much).
I think Construction workers and those who are not working in offices etc… actually end up getting fatter from FF.October 12, 2013 at 8:52 AM in reply to: OT: Super Trendy Dude! Helmet Law for Walking/Nanny State #766787The-Shoveler
Participant
Hey, some of the people who stare at their cell phones instead of looking at traffic while crossing the street could use a helmet! Or a clue.
As soon as they get everyone in driverless cars the next step is driverless exoskeletons.
Oh and Brain chips.
The-Shoveler
ParticipantWell this is good for SD maybe, but really what could go wrong right …
QCOM in development of ‘Brain’ chips for phones and robots.

Participant
I’ve been reading about cars on and off for years.
There are the enthusiasts who want cheap, fun to drive sporty cars. Cars that are light, with limited bloat and cheap to maintain, that will last for decades.
The more I think about it, the less those cars make business sense. Car makers don’t have the financial incentives to make such car. Instead they want high margin cars, either on bloat ware or maintenance.

Bingo !!!
It’s kind of like home builders, they mostly either want to sell you a condo, or a Mc-Mansion, or possibly a small SFH with almost zero lot.
(unless it’s in a low land cost area of course).
I think stealerships as we know them now, their days are numbered.
Tesla cannot be undone.
