ParticipantThe irs wont bother with it, they really could care less because the dollar amount isn’t worth the labor costs. If someone has 1k a year of mello roos and 80% of it is deductable, yet they deduct the whole thing, then they deducted 200 that they shouldn’t have. It was not malicious, their bill would be a whole $50 to the irs, yet it cost the irs a grand in labor to deal with it, just not worth it. Same goes for your vehicle registration, you are supposed to subtract the non value based portion and deduct only the remainder, most people just deduct the dollar amount they see on their vehicle registration card in their glove box and the irs doesn’t really care.
Plus there are more people inflating their charity deduction than the mello roos folks.
They will likely just change the tax code to allow mello roos as a deduction, since it basically is treated that way now. They already changed the code to allow the deduction of PMI.
Mello roos sucks, but if you are a buyer of resale property, you can factor the payment, then figure the dollar cost and reduce your offer by that amount. If you have to pay the same amount for a mello roos house vs a non mello roos house, the go with the non, but if there is a discount because of it, if that discount makes the two houses cost the same as far as the monthly payment, then live where you want to live.

ParticipantNot the canned food thing again!!! Everything will be fine, regardless of what happens. Some areas have seen 50-60% drop from peak and no riots, there is still food. Does anyone ever consider who gets involved in riots? 16-25 year old unemployed males are the driving force in most any riot. France has been dealing with them for a while, in Ireland it was almost a more popular sport than soccer a decade or two ago. Who loses money on real estate? Usually people 30-60, not quite the riot demographic.

I know, who would have imagined the thread would wind up on a asian pornstar. I ended up googling Evelyn Lin at work just to check who she is…:-)[/quote]
How is it that nobody told me that a thread fell so far that porn was discussed? On that topic, I googled her as well, sorry, not in my wheelhouse, not even close, she looks 11. If we are going to have a rational, adult and realistic discussion about porn stars, regardless of ethnicity, we have to set some ground rules. D-cup minimum is the first rule, since I have seen asian porn stars meet this minimum, go back to the drawing board and bring me some better names. Rule #2, the word “cute” is not permitted during the discussion.
Now if you brought up Ava Devine, different story, but then again, she’s U.S. born and after cheeseburgers and silicon get the better of them, now they are in the wheelhouse. I’ll even entertain a discussion of true asian borns Hitomi Tanaka, Anna Ohura, Mariko Morikawa or Miki Sawaguchi, well then we can have a conversation. But keep that middle schooler looking skinny stuff of my computer.

ParticipantIt is actually really old, some of the buildings from the 1800’s still stand, but many are new and keep to that style. Obviously many of the old buildings needed rennovations over the year, perhaps they made them look too new. From my research that you inspired, it turns out that lots of places burned down back in those days and the fire department was not as effective in those days, since it consisted of people with buckets.
You can read about it here

To summarize, old town was moved to it’s current location in 1880 because the railroad came through there, prior to that is had been a bout 3 miles east. I think the bank (which is now a mexican restraunt named the bank), a hotel, a store and a few other places are original from 1880. The pre-1880 store is still in place but that’s about it for the pre 1880 town, it’s just not near what people know as old town. The map of old town in 1884 is pretty much the same as it is today, street names and such are the same http://www.temeculahistoricalsociety.org/temecula.html
One of the reasons it existed was that it had water and was on the stagecoach route from the east to San Francisco. They would change horses here, many stages did not go to san diego or even L.A., in those days San Fran was the big city. When the railroads replaced the stages, the shops moved to the r/r stop, which is where it still is today.

Another little known fact, it was part of San Diego county until 1893.
The short answer, shortimer, is yes, sorry to tell you, but you are kinda wrong, it really is an old town and was one of the few towns on the map of so cal in the 1800’s.
