ParticipantKev, I am not disagreeing with you because you have a point but bar patronage is never a good indicator or economic conditions, beer is recession proof.

ParticipantI wasn’t calling you a dirt anything, just pointing out that lot size is no defense in controlling who the neighbors are.
With regards to preventing “weird single guy” syndrome it’s way too late for that and a stable woman is not the cure, then I’m just weird unhappy married guy. unstable women are so much more entertaining anyway.
There is no such thing as excessive cigar smoking or too much of the other thing. Almost every male celebrity to exceed the age of 90 had a cigar in hand, doctors should issue them. (george burns, sinatra, berle, etc.)
Once you add the word “stable” to “female presence,” that’s where I get off the bus, if they get painting and decorating rights I end up shopping for a new house, I’m done buying houses as parting gifts. But I do appreciate your concern, however my favorite thing about myself is that I am “weird.” It works for me.

ParticipantDharma, don’t worry about my hood, it’s a big region and if you took a poll, Temecula is where most would want to live if they could, Hemet, Elsinore, Wildomar, French valley will all fall first, there wont be any section 8 people left, we’re on the high ground. You saw the foreclosure numbers, they increase in percentage by population ans you move north. The city has been in trouble so many times for not having the minumum required section 8 housing that they have bought apartments and converted them to senior citizen housing to save their road tax money. South Temecula has over 40k people and one apartment building, so let’s not get all fearfull and dont be a small lot hater, there are plenty of us that want the smallest lot possible. If I could build the perfect house, 6 car garage, ten foot perimeter spacing surrounded by brick or vinyl fencing (no wood ever) not a blade a grass to be seen, jacuzzi, rocks and palm trees, three bedrooms, small kitchen, giant televisions mounted on walls, not a speck of carpet and as little grout as possible, now that a man cave. No mowing, no gardening, giant garages, everything can be cleaned with windex, no flat paint, and if possible, epoxy coat the entire house floor, put drains in each room and never own a mop or vaccuum, just hose everything down, hosing things down is therapy for men, gardening and painting is kryptonite. All a backyard needs is a jacuzzi, a table and chairs for cigar smoking, a bbq and a view. Anything more is just using up your valuable money and time on the planet to maintain. Small lots do not attract dirtbags, in fact dirtbags like big lots so they can keep their big dogs, every car they haved ever owned in various states of decay and spare appliances for parts in the backyard. Dirtbags love land and hate HOA’s.

ParticipantBack to the original story, where are the real numbers? Bread went up four times? And gas went up? May I ask by how much? If bread went up a nickel, four times and I buy two loaves a week, that’s 40 cents a week, that’s $22.80 a year. And how far do the French really drive? It’s a little country and it has a nice mass transit system. Here’s a suggestion, get another job since a full time career is 35 hours a week in france according to page two of the article. If I only worked 50 hours in a week I’d feel like I was slacking off. I read an article that bread prices were 75-95 cents a baguette and they went up 7% (a nickel). I just read another version of the story, this one with some numbers in it. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/04/29/business/france-prices.php
It turns out that if they get married their income tax will go from 1500 euros to zero so they plan on getting married, and also the man works from 6:30 to 1:45 and is considering getting an afternoon job, boo freaking hoo. There’s a knock at the door and it’s the real world, Mr French Guy, you make two babies with your girlfriend and guess what you are going to have to do? Marry her and give up your 8 hours of free time every afternoon. One kid is a baby and one is three, so she got pregnant four years ago and they could have saved 1500 euros a year by getting married four years ago when she was pregnant and they spend 1500 euros ($2200) on food in a month, they live in the city and only just decided to get rid of one car. I’m having a hard time with this story. It sounds to me like these people are bad with their money and now we need to feel sorry for them. I know people who make over 100k and dont have a pot to piss in, while I also know someoe who makes 60k and manages to save. If this was an American couple whining about not being able to make their hummer payment and flip houses, you guys would skewer them, that original report takes out all the numbers and we launch into engineered seeds and starvation talk. Can’t it just be that some people aren’t good with money or don’t plan or refuse to give up luxuries. Tehy also complained about not being able to go the theater or eating out, duh! You have two babies, them days are over for a while, no matter where you live or how much bread costs, it’s time to break out the coupons.
