ParticipantI had almost this exact thing happen to me, one of my L/L’s were getting a divorce and wanted to sell short while I lived there. It was 2006 or 2007 and I really didn’t know what a short sale would entail, it was also a much slower market so I agreed with no caveats, I thought I’d be cool about it. What a mistake.
The only thing I asked was that I would be given at least an hour warning before a showing and my dumb ass allowed a lock box. I’d say 10% called an hour early, 70% called from the driveway and 20% just walked in, didn’t even knock.
Then the incident happened. I got in the shower without realizing that I hadn’t replaced the towels that I put in the laundry. While cursing myself for having to walk downstairs naked and wet to get a towel (single men don’t have linen closets filled with extra towels, it’s the law) so as I walk quickly to minimize the water damage, I am met in the upstairs hall by a nice couple and their middle aged male realtor. As we stand there staring at each other, all i can think to say is “how come every realtor I’ve met so far is hot chick and the one time I’ve got one upstairs and I’m naked, it’s a dude.”
I told the L/L that I’m done with this crap, they said they would not hold me to the lease and had the lock box removed so anyone who wanted to see it would have to go through me to see it on my terms. I moved out a month or two later, they sold the place, everybody is happy but everytime I see hat realtor chick I chuckle a little as to what might have been. If i ever decide to write porn screenplays, that will be my first.
You can learn from my story, tell them your husband is a nudist, refuses to wear clothes and likes to rub up against visitors (make up a syndrome name), that if they break the lease you can convince him to look for other rentals during the time of the open houses.

Participantbooter, the answer is yes, but I’m not sure what the chapparal area is (if it’s by chapparal high school, then no). santiago estates and Los ranchitos are the customs just North of temecula parkway, very much in the cooler microclimate. Just use the pechanga casino as the epicenter, the more you go east and north from there, the hotter it gets, maybe a degree a mile or two. The exception is the western hills, but that’s all high end customs (de luz, even la cresta) from the other side of the hill it’s a straight shot to the ocean, that’s why they grow red grapes on the western coastal facing hills but for the townfolk, santiago is about as good as it gets.

I’ll second all of that. I grew up in Escondido and just closed on a beautiful place in Temecula (for $250k-ish as it happens). It’s 20 minutes from the 79 to the 78 and so worth it.[/quote]Welcome aboard REN, I agree with you guys, the OP can find a comparable price but won’t find the demographics, schools and house size anywhere in S.D. right now for 250k, Temecula does offer that right now but the 250kish market up here is shifting to the to the 300kish price, even in winter, his two options are rent in sd or get a map to temecula.
Ren, you are absolutely going to love the town and the low mortgage payment, especially the low payment. It’s been almost a year since I jumped back in and I have the lowest payment to income ratio of my life. For the first time in my life I wasn’t house poor during that dreaded first year after buying, I cannot find the words to express the peace of mind that biting off less than you can chew will bring. I’ve always bought what I could barely afford at a fixed rate and then allowed time and inflation to balance things out. In retrospect, that wasn’t a bad plan, it’s just not as good as going ultra affordable. Anyway, welcome to the hood, drinks on me.

ParticipantPolitics shmolotics, the biggest waste of time I can think of. I was about to permanently ignore this thread because of the political overtones until allan and urban mentioned some of my favorite things, hot brazillian chicks, being one of them. I did an image search and yowsa!!! I still believe that Christina Hendricks is proof that a higher power exists because evoloution can’t be that good. I also agree with Bill Simmons that the phrase “on a scale of one to ten” should be permanently changed to “on a scale of one to Christina Hendricks nude scene.”
But Morena is in that same conversation of “permanent phrase changes.”
So now if I find a genie in a bottle, my first two wishes are already allocated.
