ParticipantAllan, that is not an indication of a societal breakdown, it’s just proof of the commonly held notion that HORSE WOMEN ARE CRAZY. Be careful to limit your daughter’s exposure to the horse, I’m not sure if it is a chemical in the fur or the equipment, nor do I know how long or what level of exposure is safe, my research is still ongoing.

Participantthreadkiller, despite how it looks, the problem is that state, looks like there will be a ballot initiative to try and prevent it.

It’s like having an unemployed big brother who steals your babysitting money just cause he’s bigger than you. The state forcibly borrows the locals property tax or gas tax or whatever in order balance their budget rather than making cuts. Then the locals have to cut services because they don’t have any younger siblings to steal from, despite making as much or more money. It’s a commonly held belief that Souther Cal, and San Diego in particular sends far more money to sacramento than it gets back. I believe it was Agoston Hazarthy who in the mid 1850’s, who was from San Diego, just as the state began, who put a motion on the assembly floor to split California into two states, Southern and Northern, if failed but it’s been a good idea for so cal in the 150+ years since. Somehwere in Sacramento there is probably a bridge that your property taxes paid for.

Participantbiran is right, there are a lot of misunderstanding about property taxes. For example, lets say you have a house you bought for 100k in 1980, over time, with the mild increase allowed under prop 13 you are paying taxes on about 150k, yet your place is worth 700k. If you do a permitted kithen remodel for 30k, they don’t reset you to todays market value, they just tack on the 30k to the 150k, and the place is now taxed at 180k, still way below market. Now jp’s point, if it repos and is taken back by the bank, the new owner will get it for , lets say 500k, which might be below market but well above what the taxes were, so the local gov’t collects more. Local government wouldn’t be in bad shape if property taxes were their only source of income, but their sales tax revenue is off. Even still they would be fine, but the state keeps “borrowing” money from the locals, forcibly. San Diego would have been fine had it not been for the state’s woes.
Another point is that all the unpaid taxes because of the repo process taking so long and escrow accounts not paying the taxes, yet banks not taking the houses back, the local gov’t will eventually get it’s taxes, they don’t write that off, they hold up any transfer, refi, sale or whatever, until they get paid, with penalities. Rest assured, death and taxes are guaranteed.

Participantflu, let me walk you through this. Just because they have lost before when you attended live, that, in and of itself, is not a jinx. WHere did you park on the previous occasions, what did you wear, who were you with, what did you eat, and specifically, what portions of the game did you miss while going to the bathroom and getting food/drink? For instance, if last time they were winning and then you went to the bathroom and the other team scored, now we are on to something. If it happened twice, then that is what we need to concentrate on, you need to wear depends and just not leave to pee. If the opposite is true, drink a few bottles of water and pee alot. It could be anything, think hard, attendance by itself is never “it.”
Casca, you have a point, Manning is an incredible player, his arm is great, his mind is probably the best in the game and he has mojo right now. Against most teams that is plenty, but he has always had his problems with Rivers and company, and now that I’ve officially changed my stance on Norv, my reverse jinx might overpower his talent. Also, Dungy is missing this time, Dungy had great karma, in close games, Dungy’s karma made a difference. WE also have a secret weapon, I remember exactly how I watched the previous games against the colts when we beat them, I will be replicating my rituals this time, while colts fans will have to randomly try different things, this negates home field advantage, I have that power.
