I can’t remember exactly why, but I can remember really hating the guy myself. I only knew him through radio.
I walked into a meeting one time way back when and there he was, scheduled to be a presenter. I could barely contain my anger and remember him glancing at me as if to wonder why I was staring at him with laser eyes. I didn’t say anything to him, but he apparently understood my opinion.

Anyone here use this Google product called Project Sunroof?
https://www.google.com/get/sunroof#p=0I think this is really interesting..
Nice find UTC. I ran my house through it, and it looks to be spot-on with respect to what size system I would need and what it would cost me to buy such a system.

20 years from now, convert to primary residence for 2 years and sell for $500k tax free gain.
This loophole has been closed with the Housing Assistance Tax Act of 2008. Essentially, value appreciation while the property is a rental is subjected to capital gains tax.
This points out the folly in making multi-decade financial decisions based on current tax law.
Tax laws change.
svelteParticipant
Other than people needed to write code for tech startup/apps/etc, are any of the other “hard” engineering sciences really in a short supply? (EE/Materials/Chem/Mechanical/etc?)
That’s the key – STEM is too broad. To detect shortages/gluts it really needs to be broken down further.
svelteParticipant
My point being financially it’s cheaper to rent.
Depends on whether you’re talking long term or short term and whether you are stable enough to live in one area long enough.
svelteParticipantWe go to concerts all the time.
There are good deals out there…by that I mean under $100/seat. Watch the Indian Casinos for some good deals, I’ve found.
I’ve heard the reason tix are so expensive now is that is how bands make money. With music moving online, not much money is selling the music. But the concerts, thats where they rake it in. Can’t steal a concert.
My wife is lobbying to get KAABOO Del Mar tix right now…looks like we’ll be ponying up to spend 3 days at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. At least a lot of great bands will be there.

so wondering if anyone else here knows that the region around California has a long history of drought(s) and that the period around the 1910’s – 1920’s (when the treaty of the colorado “river” compact was studied/signed) was an abnormally wet period (WRT the long term historical “climate” record)
Yes and I have mentioned this to people often. They look at me like I’m from Mars and must be saying that because I’m an ultra-conservative looking to deny man-made global warming.
But what you say is exactly right – and the last 100 years have been abnormally wet, actually, so it makes sense that things are going to return to normal.
Finally – there is not water shortage. 71% of the earth’s surface is covered with water, for Christ’s sake. What is becoming more scarce is cheap access to potable water. We could take water from that ocean to our heart’s content – as long as we are willing to pay for desalinization.

2015 Leafs (98) – $31.7K average
2013 Leafs (13) – $15.3K average
Average drop: 30% (if rebate factored in)
Average drop: 52% (without factoring rebate)2015 Jukes (7) – $28.2 average
2013 Jukes (11) = $19.2 average
Average drop: 32%2015 Volts (96) – $35.3K average
2013 Volts (3) – $20.4K average
Average drop: 19.5% (if rebate factored in)
Average drop: 43% (without factoring rebate)
Not sure how this popped up on the thread list, but let’s revisit this almost a year later. I’m not going to do a 2016 vs 2013 comparison because the 2016 Volt is all new – wouldn’t be a fair comparison.
But let’s look at 2013 prices within 25 miles of my home:
2013 Leafs (14): $11,900 average
2013 Volts (15): $17,900 average
2013 Jukes (8): $16,400 average
Looks like the Volt is still doing significantly better than the Leaf in resale value.
svelteParticipant
After reading this thread again, I am convinced once people get above a certain age like 50ish+, some people exhibit having a few screws loose and could arguably be qualified as certified nuts.
I think a couple of signs of that are “use” of phantom quotes when they are actually quoting no one and bold text to inject emphasis.
svelteParticipant
Moneymaker, not sure what your diet is like…. But the answer for most Americans is to change your diet. Learn to like and appreciate lighter food. no burgers or mash potato with butter, etc…
I think that what people find delicious is all in the head.
I second this. Most weight loss is through changes in your intake. Exercising just tones you up. To be as effective as possible, do both consistently.
svelteParticipantA piece of bread here and there is not a bad thing. I think diets work best if you have a “cheat day” where you can eat what you want. That keeps cravings from getting out of hand.
Even with one cheat day a week, I’ve hit my weight loss goal and actually am struggling to keep weight on.
svelteParticipantI’ve been watching five thirty eight’s prediction for Indiana, and they had been giving Cruz the nod as the favorite, which confused me since the polls it used to calculate that all showed Trump leading.
Then almost overnight, it flipped.
http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-2016/primary-forecast/indiana-republican/
Now five thirty eight thinks Trump will take it. What changed things so rapidly there I have no clue, but Trump appears to be building momentum.
This has been one of the strangest presidential seasons I can remember, easily the strangest since Perot’s 1992 run.
svelteParticipantThis starts playing in my head every time I see this thread.
svelteParticipantSo Cruz picks Fiorina for VP. In April.
This sure looks like a Hail Mary pass out of desperation.
If he doesn’t take Indiana next Tuesday, I don’t think there is any stopping Trump.
