if the purpose of the 2nd am. really is to prep for revolution wgen necessaey, it makes no sense to limit the type of atms obtainable. grenades, tanks…those would be more useful in keeping the Gov. in line.
Not useful, easier. ‘Heavy’ weapons would change ‘people at large’ to a small group or single individual. This was never the intent of the Founding Fathers – again, it is also shown in the Federalist Papers. War, bloodshed should never be easy nor sanitary. Keeping it dirty, keeps it to the last resort.
Out of this I’m interested in:

Again, not in the Federalist Papers.
If your argument is that a grenade should be illegal because it can allow a single individual to take out a large number of people (which appears to be what you’re saying), then you obviously think automatic guns should be illegal too.
svelteParticipant

To the point I wonder if it’s not an intentional throw.
Suspicions like this, and the “Hillary plant” thesis mentioned by someone else above, give Trump way, WAY too much credit.
Which is more plausible:
– He’s an evil genius with a cunning master plan that somehow involves convincing everyone he’s a mentally unstable halfwit
– He actually just is a mentally unstable halfwit
From those choices, I’m really hoping he’s a mentally unstable halfwit, because if he is cunning then we could all be in real trouble. 🙂
With everything he’s said in the last 6 months, the Clinton campaign should have ample material to obliterate him in ads this fall. But I hope he continues to say and do insanely inept things just to ensure he doesn’t get elected. My fear is that he’ll tone down his rhetoric and since people have short memories, he’ll start polling better.
I have really never seen anything like this presidential race in the years I’ve understood/watched politics. I would imagine you’d have to go way, way back in history to find anything that comes close to this. It’s fun to watch, yet spooky at the same time since this decides who sits in the most important chair in the world.

So you don’t like it???
Funny thing is, almost visible from the view in Trumps penthouse are the room displays in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. One of them is a fantastic Frank Lloyd Wright living room…just awesome. Then Trump builds that overwrought monstrosity just a few blocks away.
True it would have been odd for Trump to do a Prairie House living room in a modern design tower, but I would have hoped that a glimpse of good design would have encourage him to do similar good design in his place…especially considering how much he spent.
svelteParticipant
I’ts pretty easy really: He lacks the personality for politics.
He’s used to being the boss. He’s done a lot of negotiation, but always from a position of relative power. And he generally only had to win over one person at a time in a tangible ‘deal.’
There is deal making in politics, but there’s a lot more as well.
The problem with that theory is that smart person would have figured this out after the first two or three missteps. He’s done a few dozen of them now.
So either my premise is incorrect and he really isn’t that bright, or this theory don’t hunt.
svelteParticipantI still can’t figure Trump out. I don’t think he is stupid. So why exactly is he doing what he’s doing?
Theories I haven’t eliminated yet:
– He wants to throw the election to the Dems. (he’s doing a bang-up job)– He loves the attention. (again, bang-up job)
– He has equal parts crazy to go with the intelligence. (totally plausible)
I thought maybe there was a fourth option that he saw himself as more popular than he is, but his recent statements that it’s OK if he loses lean me away from that theory.
August 11, 2016 at 5:10 PM in reply to: Trump businesses – Would you support his businesses? #800517svelteParticipantI’ve never considered buying anything Trump, watching anything Trump, or spending money in anything Trump ever. His campaign has simply reinforced my original course.
I remember a few months ago he claimed he had his pulse on the public because he listened to people at his rallies. Uh, no, you have your pulse on your supporters. That does not equate to the public. His poll numbers show I’m closer to being correct than he is.

highest depreciation of any car! im interested.
i was opposed initially but im gonna check em out…i think this might be for me..
Leaf prices falling like a rock have been discussed before on here:
http://piggington.com/how_much_did_you_pay_for_solar?page=5

2015 Leafs (98) – $31.7K average
2013 Leafs (13) – $15.3K average
Average drop: 30% (if rebate factored in)
Average drop: 52% (without factoring rebate)2015 Jukes (7) – $28.2 average
2013 Jukes (11) = $19.2 average
Average drop: 32%2015 Volts (96) – $35.3K average
2013 Volts (3) – $20.4K average
Average drop: 19.5% (if rebate factored in)
Average drop: 43% (without factoring rebate)
Not sure how this popped up on the thread list, but let’s revisit this almost a year later. I’m not going to do a 2016 vs 2013 comparison because the 2016 Volt is all new – wouldn’t be a fair comparison.
But let’s look at 2013 prices within 25 miles of my home:
2013 Leafs (14): $11,900 average
2013 Volts (15): $17,900 average
2013 Jukes (8): $16,400 average
Looks like the Volt is still doing significantly better than the Leaf in resale value.
On used Leafs, don’t forget to factor in a new battery which can run $3000-5000.
I prefer the Volt to alleviate range anxiety, especially as battery range decreases over time. But a used Volt will cost more $$.

I think it’s time we put high def videos on every street corner, every cop car, body cam every police officer.I’m willing to give up a little privacy on public streets for it.
I don’t think any of us have a right to privacy in public – that’s the difference between “private” and “public”. !!
So I’m with you on this one…
svelteParticipantJust the fact that enough voters were found to make Trump the Republican nominee scares the crap out of me.
Really, are there that many gullible people in this country? Man, I got in the wrong business. I should have made millions exploiting that gullibility.
Of course, if I had, my name would be Trump then wouldn’t it?
svelteParticipantLove these responses! I actually laughed out loud!
