We loved that place too. Fantastic quality food.
My wife says the chain has been struggling for awhile. She got one of her employees from their HQ when there was a massive layoff awhile back.
svelteParticipant
i’ve been a long time prepandemic bandana wearer, much to my wife’s chagrin. not as a mask, just as neck gear.
svelteParticipant
Interesting that countries most successful at containing the virus are densely populated Asian countries, including Vietnam which is poor and lacks resources.
…and therefore probably doesn’t have a very accurate tally of how many died from CV.
svelteParticipantI am starting to worry that many of our favorite hangouts won’t be able to hang on until they are allowed to reopen.
They’ve still got monthly rent, etc….not sure how long their money will last.
One unfortunate place in Temecula just spent big bucks expanding and remodeling. I don’t even think they had their grand re-opening yet before this hit. Talk about bad timing.
svelteParticipantI went over to an engineer’s desk one day and we worked through a problem. While we were talking he said he was moving to Montana for more privacy.
I asked where he lived now. He said a 10 acre avocado ranch in Valley Center. I looked at him confused.
He picked up on my confusion and said he was looking for a whole ‘nuther level of privacy than he had now.
svelteParticipant
…but because of a pledge I made there to not drink, I save 3,000 a year on alcohol…
Well that’s it. I’ll never be a buddhist.
And you were spending $60/week on alcohol?
svelteParticipant
It would cost me about 6k a year for a landscaper…
That’s cuz you bought a large property. I think we pay about $1500/yr and never have to worry about anything. Yard always looks great.
They haven’t increased our price in 15 years. Probably because we pay them no matter what…slow season, rain, the 6 months they didn’t have to work due to yard remodel, coronavirus, whatever. We pay them.
svelteParticipantI love old cars. They are very close to my heart.
I’m a regular at Concours d’Elegance. Canceled this year, btw.
But I decided long ago I’d rather others deal with their upkeep and restoration. I’ll just be an admirer who pays admission to the shows.

I know a few landlord who would be barely cash flow positive a traditional rental income model. …
Pacific Beach will get decimated.
Yikes.
After I made my post I thought well maybe they can squeak by as regular rentals…after all there is a housing shortage going on.
Your post throws cold water on that.
svelteParticipantHere is a great take on how CV might affect the housing market.
I hadn’t thought of the long term impact on AirBnB, and I didn’t know many hosts owned many properties. If folks don’t start traveling soon, this is going to cause them to dump properties on the market and we all know what that does to prices. Especially in an AirBnB intensive city like San Diego.
This may get interesting.
svelteParticipantHere are some stats by state on the infection rate per 100K people and death rate per 100K people.

svelteParticipantMay 1st.
I predict when we enter May, patience will start wearing thin.
The Guv and the Prez better give us measurable, objective criteria for how we move on to the next stages.
Defining the stages was a great first step.
Now we need details on how we know when it is time to transition to each step.
They only have a few more days before attitudes will start changing drastically.
Get with it, boys. Voters are watching.
svelteParticipantAll good choices!

I think those that were buying things when oil went negative will be handsomely awarded in the long run. Not just oil, but when everything was tanking out of fear. Good job folks. lol
There was some teak outdoor furniture that I haven’t been able to pull the trigger on because of the price.
I checked last Thursday. 1/3 off. So I bought it online and had it delivered.
Same with a huge fiberglass tree container. Way high in price. My finger always got nervous before I hit ‘buy’. Was 20% off that last week online…really easy to hit ‘buy’. No tax and free shipping also.
Can’t wait for this stuff to arrive.
