svelteParticipantI’ve owned cars from and belonged to a number of sports car clubs – cars made in US, UK, Italy and Japan – over the years and I can tell you that members of each brand are ga-ga over their rides. And they deserve to be, they are all very fun and pretty darn reliable when compared to average cars of even 20 years ago.
As for resale, I doubt many of the aforementioned owners paid two seconds of attention to that when buying – the purchase was emotional not logical. But a car that is fairly consistently on the best resale list:

FLU, I like your 4 car price-not-an-issue stable. Not exactly mine, but 3 out of 4 could potentially end up in my garage. I saw my first R8 parked directly in front of the Four Seasons in Paris this summer and it called out to me…good thing I don’t know how to hot-wire cars or I might have heard that dual-toned police siren approaching from behind as I zinged down tiny alleys.

But of this I am certain: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. And the friend of my enemy is my enemy.
[/quote]A poor assumption.
Example:
Turn back the clock ten years.
Sadam Hussien, and therefore Iraq, would certainly not be considered a friend of the US.
Iraq’s enemy at the time (and currently) is Iran.
Are you calling Iran a friend of the US?

The neighborhoods of Las Palmas Ranch, Montclair, Quiet Hills, and Rancho Verde Estates (ranchoverdeestates.com) are all very nice and worth considering…the first two may get a little freeway noise, though. The further from those developments you get, the more eclectic Escondido gets so be wary.
One other thing worth pointing out about south Escondido: the old Chatham Brothers Barrel Yard located at 2257 Bernardo Ave. It is a superfund cleanup site – drive by and you’ll see vent tubes sticking out of the ground…it’s eery. The site used to be a barrel yard where trichloroethylene, benzene and polychlorinated biphenyls or PCBs leaked into the ground water.
This leak formed a plume that headed southward towards Lake Hodges. This threat to the area water source lead to its inclusion on the superfund cleanup list. The water table below the site is slowly, year by year, being returned to an acceptable state.
More info on the site can be found here:

and a map of the plume can be found here:
Note the plume does not touch any of the neighborhoods I described above…they would all be nice places to live.
