svelteParticipantWow. Have we gotten to the point where TVs are 2 year disposable items?
And I was ticked a few years back when my huge Mitsubishi Diamond Series projection TV crapped out at 4 years. I had to practically give it away for a few bucks because the repair cost was so high.
svelteParticipantI just dropped about 4 grand this year on new garage doors and openers. My garage is just shy of Taj Mahal so I went all out. Chamberlain DC openers, custom painted doors, etc.
I am simply stunned by the openers – they are sooo quiet that I can sneak in the house without even the dog knowing I’m home! And they slow down to a crawl just before reaching the fully open or closed position. nice touch!
I’ve got custom lighting, sheet rock, texture and paint throughout the garage…just have to decide whether I’m gonna epoxy the floor or not. I did it before on a prior home and it got quite slick when wet – don’t want wifey to break an ankle in her high heels. If I can live with the stray stain, I’m leaning towards leaving the floor au natural this time.
Everything in the garage is on rollers too – when it comes time to clean the floor I just roll everything out and bring in the hose for a quick power wash.
svelteParticipantHow do you know for sure that they aren’t?
I can tell you for sure that not everything that goes through the court system winds up in the paper. Only the most interesting. And this qualified.
svelteParticipant270 days in jail, 5 years probation, and $144K in restitution. Justice is served.
svelteParticipantBelieve it or not, Amazon sometimes has a good selection of this type of stuff. Worth a look.
And if you pay them $79/year, they will ship you anything in 2 days with no shipping costs. Such a deal.
svelteParticipantlol. gotta joke about it, cuz it is just too sad and depressing otherwise.
And a local boy! Westview High School grad with a UC neuroscience degree no less! Weirdos lurk everywhere I tell ya. Upscale school districts and suburban tract homes offer no protection at all.
svelteParticipant
Allan, to your “they are all the same” theme, they all cheat. I admire the French in that they do it, and they freely admit to it.
whoa there. “Cheating” is doing something against the agreement between the couple. I look to the wife’s reaction. If Hillary is OK with Billy Boy having some fun, it’s OK with me too. She didn’t seem to mind, so I am presuming he didn’t “cheat”.
Now, Mrs. Schwarzenegger on the other hand, she DID mind. Therefore, I’m much more critical of Arnold’s side trips…
svelteParticipant
Hijack. The fusion is made in Mexico (for now). So it ain’t helping detroit (yet)

Where do you think profits from the sale of a Fusion go?
The CEO, the unions, marketing/sales expense to beef up sales in Europe where Ford just lost a handlful, and in Asia, where Ford isn’t as successful as GM…Oh yes, to a much lesser extend, regular employees in terms of creating more jobs in america.
Profit is what is left after all expenses related to producing the object are deducted. For an American company, that comes back to the US. Now, they may spend some of that profit on marketing to beef up the European market, but that would be another topic entirely – where they spend the profit they make.
Only thing that bugged me about the car is the little pano mirrors they have built into the side views. They were annoying and seemed to be misplaced. Other than that, A+.
svelteParticipant

Thought you guys would correct this “error” for lack of a better term and get a kick out of this. Motown, and oh by the way,I want to thank anyone who pays taxes for saving the middle class in Detroit. Now we can send our tax monies to help other States if need be, and wait till the new Ford Fusion arrives. How did the cars get so good so fast?Motown
Side note – had a rental 2011 Fusion recently and really liked it. I can see why they are so popular. I wouldn’t call it an exciting car, but it is a car that does everything it is asked to do very well…handled four ppl and all our luggage in comfort. Which is what most people are looking for.
svelteParticipantI’m gonna go see the midnight showing tonight. Who’s with me?

You have nuts in both parties.. take off the rose colored glasses. Remember, the article even points it out, McCain, a Republican is defending her by striking back at those claims and stating they are “an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable woman”.
I like McCain. I may have voted for him had he picked a better vice prez.
svelteParticipantI stopped wearing watches too for all the reasons mentioned on here…kept losing them, time is now on cell phone, almost every place I go has a clock, yadda yadda.
Really haven’t missed it that often. I’d say only once every few months do I say “gee, I’d know the time right now if I still wore a watch”.
svelteParticipantflu, just in the last few weeks I walked by a booth that bought gift cards. I just can’t align my brain bits enough to remember where. I just asked my wife and she doesn’t remember either. If it falls out of my head here soon, I’ll reply again…
svelteParticipantWell if you live in CV or PUSD, ya can’t complain about the tiger moms and dads. You had to know they come with the territory when you bought.
