Well so much for that idea.. I ran that idea across with my kid…..Kid says
“I’m a little concerned about the car being that small. You know in case a big truck runs over it…….But you can get it and keep it for yourself…”
Well, so much for that idea…
Wow. When we bought our white 89 Miata we bought it with the intention of giving it my oldest son when he turned 16. Well as that year approached *I* got frightened about handing a car that small over to a new driver. Hell, I had almost been run over in it several times (from ppl who didn’t see me) and I’m good at evasive maneuvers. I couldn’t stomach the thought of handing it over to my son.
So we bought him a larger car instead. I was all prepared to get him something sporty, but he chose a midsize 4 door so his friends would ride all comfy.
Kids today. ๐
What a coincidence…an insert *precisely* where IIHS conducts the test…You don’t suppose they were trying to rig the results, do you? An honorable car company wouldn’t do that!
What percentage of that same japanese company is owned by a US company?
Toyota is owned by a US company? Do tell! ๐
You are also pointing at one specific incident, I have shown systemic issues.
Lol…you sited no evidence just stated a generalization then claim you showed a systemic issue? Wow!
As for NGK; there may be other details like strong-arming through patents and access to OEM level sourcing to force a group to act as a ‘cartel’ supplying spark plugs. It was not only NGK that was involved.
So Johnny did it too so it’s okay?
Most of the items you listed does not even get close to the level of the issues with Chinese supplied goods.
Dude. You were saying Japanese business was based on honor. I was saying that is a falsehood. I said nothing about the Chinese so why drag them back in! Focus!
You’ve claimed a generalization was better proof than the specific examples I offered, deflected by saying if Johnny did it too it is okay, and now said yeah but China is worse! Too much.
You would have been better off to admit that falsifying financials for years, breaking US law on US soil by price fixing, and attempting to artificially raise bumper test results were all bad moves.

Both Japanese and Koreans have a ‘honor’ aspect to work products.
I hear this from some folks and it always cracks me up.

“The ES 300 and Camry are essentially the same cars with similar bumper systems, so it’s not surprising that their performances in the 5 mph tests also were similar. The biggest difference was in the pole test. The rear bumper systems on both cars include steel inserts in the middle of the foam in the rear bumpers. This energy-absorbing insert, placed exactly where the car hits the pole in the Institute’s test, would manage the energy of a low-speed crash in only a narrow range of impacts, so the pole tests of these vehicles were conducted slightly off-center.”
What a coincidence…an insert *precisely* where IIHS conducts the test…

THaT’s the big draw for me. ๐
I’d use it every Sat night…
Except if you read the fine print on the laws… these driverless cars still require a driver to take control if needed…
I expect that to change as driverless cars become better and more accepted.
With the state of the technology right now, I agree with the law.
svelteParticipantMan do you know how long it’s been since I’ve owned a bike?
I think I’m gonna buy me a bicycle. Yes I do.
svelteParticipantYou might own my old car. My Miata was white of about the same vintage.
All the plastic bits on another one of my cars faded and the finish crumbled back during the 80s. So I sanded all the parts down, bought paint at an auto store and repainted them. Came out great and lasted longer than the original factory finish did! 8 years after I did it, it was still looking good when I sold the car…

I would never get caught drunk if I were using a self driving car.

Although I recently got a gorgeous watch and it is amazing. I love it!
Makes experiences better. Makes me feel awesome
Congrats man! Do what you enjoy in life!
svelteParticipant“Experiences, not things”
Says the man lusting after an expensive watch.
cars are something you either get or you dont.
No worries either way!
svelteParticipantafter seeing many C7s on the road, I’ve come to the conclusion it looks superb in dark colors, too busy in light colors. That’s because the dark colors hide the superfluous lines.
In black or gray, it looks amazing. Yellow, not so much.
I haven’t driven one yet but hear it is fantastic. I bought all my 2 seaters a few years back and don’t want to part with the ones I have, so I’m not even gonna tempt myself.
What I’m still in shock over is the Hellcat. Not only are they gonna put that beast engine in the Challenger, but the Charger too! 700 HP in a Charger!!! Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!
svelteParticipant
My take on this is that
1. We don’t know if Brown attacked or tried to attack the officer.
2. We know the cop took 6 shots, but don’t know under what circumstance they were taken.
3. I think there is a certain element of prejudice going by those who defend both Brown and those that defend Wilson, when we don’t yet have a clear picture of what happened.
4. Regardless, it seems like some folks are finding an excuse to riot and loot, which is unfortunate, because it detracts from the real issue at hand…
+1
Impossible for any of us to take a well informed position on this. An unfortunate incident for sure no matter what the exact story.
svelteParticipantDifferent strokes for different folks. As zk points out, when tradeoffs are necessary different people will have different priorities.
Some are not bothered by noise so living close to a freeway is not an issue. My parents were that way. I’d visit the home they bought about the time I entered college and wonder why they lived there (backed up to a highway), but they were perfectly content so I didn’t rain on their parade.
There really is no perfect house, even in the upper price echelons. I am simply floored by how many bad floor plans exist on high end homes. And even the folks I know who built their own house? I haven’t found one yet who doesnt wish they would have designed in a bit differently.
There is no perfect housing solution out there. You pretty much have to pick your poison.
svelteParticipant
Impossible. Electricity and phone service are taxed.
I think he’s actually saying he won’t make any payments on anything that is taxed during those 40 days. After all, gas is taxed and he plans on consuming it during the 40 – he just won’t be paying for any during the 40.
If he pays his elec and phone bill late, then he will still be able to claim he made no tax payments during the 40.
It will be a boring 40 days though.

I think you got the taxonomy in your new screen name wrong, Big Tuna.
I forgot about his Erect stage.
