ParticipantFor what my friend describes. His hiring pick is really bad. People with no college /no formal experience/ yet demanding and getting placed into senior level positions…Backassward as it sounds.
More defense contractor/military parasitism. Business as usual. I say cut the defense budget by 50% and watch them squeal like the f**kin’ pigs that they are.
“Defense” has become a bloated virus of a corporate welfare program since 9/11.

ParticipantAbout 2 months ago I was challenged by an iphone 4S user to a photo contest against my cheapy point and shoot (easily pocket size) Panasonic Lumix in somewhat low light conditions.
Agreed 100%.
iPhone 4S… slow and jerky focus. Often takes multiple tries to get the image in focus. Zoom basically requires two hands. Tiny, mediocre optics. No lense protection, so it gets schmutzy if you keep it in a pocket. The LED “flash” often reflects off the phone case and leaves odd shadows on the image.
A real camera kicks its ass up and down the street many times over.
ParticipantWho actually wants to live in inland CA? At that point, you may as well be in Poenis or Lost Wages and pay lower income taxes. Flights from PHX or LAS to SAN are $50-$75 one way if you buy at the right time, and take about an hour. You can be at the beach in less time than it takes to crawl there in CA traffic.
People are discovering that fact too late.

ParticipantI don’t feel the need to carry my ****ing cell phone, electronic leash, and personal tracking device 24/7. If not wanting to be on the grid all the time is a sign of being old, then color me grey, baby.
As to the kind of watch that I wear, generally an old Russian Vostok, given to me by my late grandfather when I was a kid. Surprisingly good quality for Cold-War era – it’s proven to be basically unbreakable as well as having sentimental value.

so…if you’re really smoking in your apt, with windows closed, not getting smoke into anyone else…you’ll be fine…no one will know you’re smoking or care.
Small claims court? Thus giving neighbors another avenue of harassment against other neighbors that they don’t like. Unlike loud music or things like spite-fences, smoke odor is hard to prove since it can’t be recorded.
Enforcement by police would almost be better, since cops generally have more important things to do than be the nanny-patrol.
BTW – I’m not sure if smoking with windows closed is actually better. Most walls are somewhat porous — better to let it out rather than having a stinky apt that would stink up the neighbors as well.
My rule in the car and in my apt is, “if you smoke, it better be next to an open window, even if it’s 10F outside.”

He can’t fight everyone at once, but he might get the hint that someone Doesn’t Like His Dog Poop.
ParticipantI think I’ll follow the example of people whom I actually know and love (many of whom are raising kids in urban areas) rather than some random dude on the Internet when I do have kids 🙂
Though I might occasionally have a listen to a “bitter old lady” or two.
