and their house is so cool in one way or another you think, man, I gotta do that? These friends of my wife, they had a cool place on an acre that was small, maybe 1500 sq ft, but what was so neat was they had an outdoor room/patio, really large, with a couple walls and then open walls, but real flooring, and louvered glass windows, adn the whole effect was that it was like half part of the house and half patio.. the room was awesome, especially filled with homeschoolers, and I thought, yeah, I need to build something like that.
they also had a pet turkey.
Although i don’t really need something like that… it just seemed….great, there….kinda reminded me of some fantastic funky rental back east in college….
I think that Southern California has the perfect climate for a living courtyard, inspired by the architecture of Spain and Morocco. It would blend in nicely with the red tile architecture were already have.
