ParticipantActually the average high temperature only exceeds 80 degrees there six months out of the year, and that includes October where it barely gets there. For 90 it’s only four months.
So 4-6 months out of the year where I’d want to punch everyone in the face (including myself) whenever I’m outside. I’d be as happy as a pig in shit if it never exceeded 75F. I think I’ll move to Montreal.
English language is overrated anyway — if I lived and died without hearing another word of it, I’d be perfectly happy.

ParticipantAny employer that gives time off but doesn’t actually give employees time to use it is a lying douchebag.

ParticipantStandards should become tighter as prices go up — natural bubble control.
Fortunately, most FHA/Fannie people can’t even get 3-5% down due to debt-to-income requirements. This is a GOOD thing! No need to give unqualified numpties free money — if you don’t have a good down payment, you’re not cut out to own a home.

Participant^^^
That wouldn’t be a bad system if (a) the contract workers can set their own hours, and (b) there’s government insurance and unemployment for all legal residents and citizens, tax supported.
Maybe that trend will finally push us to national insurance. So long as insurance is covered, a straight cash-for-labor exchange would actually be beneficial. No employer benefits would minimize the fixed costs of employment and actually reduce the temptation to squeeze blood from a turnip.

ParticipantExactly — you didn’t have shitty managers that hated you. But if you did and they were into guns, at least you could suggest that they go Cobainize with one of their toys.

ParticipantHave enough money in the bank and be willing to quit and tell the manager to go fuck him/herself if they engage in wage theft. Theft of vacation time = wage theft.
If everyone who was victimized in this way was willing to tell their manager to get screwed, it would be a lot less common. Employees allow for this crap.

ParticipantVermont. Liberal firearms laws (read: essentially no laws other than Federal), sparse population (but not so sparse they can’t work communally) relatively cheap land up north, proximity to a national border, relatively hard-working and civilized inhabitants.

ParticipantWith any luck, she’ll have to withdraw. Pulling for Sanders or maybe Biden vs that two-faced nutbag. But the nutbag is still better than Trump.

Participant^^ Exactly.
Fortunately, jumbo loans for primaries still fall under QM. As long as QM remains in force, the kind of unqualified/stupid people who bought overvalued houses in the mid-00s will be out of the market. Because good luck meeting DTI.

ParticipantWhy? Just an appeal to snobbery?

ParticipantWhy not just buy a tiny place closer to the beach in the San Diego area?
spdrun
ParticipantNo. Smaller cities aren’t declining. Some older Midwestern cities are. Places like Boise and Grand Rapids are doing fine.

ParticipantPeople can feel free to get a telecommuting job and move to a cheap area.
That wasn’t my point. My point was that London doesn’t really speak for the entire UK. And 95% of jobs don’t involve telecommuting anyway, so it’s a moot point for most people. People tend to live where the jobs are, and it’s often not in the cheapest area.
