ParticipantThen maybe just maybe you will finally be able to get them to take your call

ParticipantSour grapes plain and simple. You remind me of the old time locals who have been renting around here for decades whining and complaining. You’ve had numerous opportunities to step up and grab a piece of paradise but you have failed. You have no one to blame but yourself. Stop blaming others for your own poor choices. Get better

ParticipantSo you spent five years partying at a cheap and easy to get into public university. You don’t make 200 to 300 K working from home. You don’t own a home and are jealous of those of us who do. And you were bashing smart hard-working people who will bust their ass to get into Ucsd, never have the résumé that looks as good as Ucla, Cal or other traditional powers schools but will make a lot more money than you ever will. Well that just sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime

Participant

Defensive? Are you kidding? I am factual! I am presenting what is actually going on out there not your hopes and dreams
Well good. Then just stick with the facts and before long you will be able to report 5% mortgages and falling prices.
When they do I will but until then operators are still standing by. Of course whenever I bring facts you deny they are real so there’s that

Participant
The difference between UCLA and UCSD for engineering and biosciences is a marginal difference and within the error of the students ability. Anything more is just a who has a bigger penis useless exercise
Well a certain legendary UCSD graduate has an enlargement plan

Participant

academically on its way to passing UCLA some day
Let me know when that “someday” arrives okay.
That day has already come for many programs. Like AN said it’s not a competition vs LA. Ucsd is the rising star in the most respected university system in the world. There are Nobel prize winners, Pulitzer Prize winners, academy award winners, Tony award winners, national medal of science winners and more. Sorry if you can’t keep up. I’m hearing great things about St. George Utah

ParticipantWhat a silly comment! I neither like nor dislike an interest rate. I am ambivalent. They are what they are and I will just pay attention and figure out how to take advantage of whatever happens with that. If they go down we buy more property. If they go up we invest in fixed-income. Whatever will be will be because we took advantage of the opportunity of a lifetime!

Participant

I curious why everyone is cheerleading so much growth in San Diego. Is more traffic and congestion really so desirable? Sounds like many on here (definitely sdr) want San Diego to be LA and Bay Area. The reason San Diego is (or was) so desirable is it is NOT LA or Bay Area.
Is it just so your real estate holdings go up in value? I can’t think of any other benefit to all the growth.
And in the end, San Diego will ALWAYS be second or third fiddle to those cities, from a prestige point of view. You really want to compare UCSD and USD to UCLA and USC? And Sports and entertainment of LA compared to what little San Diego has?
What is wrong with having better jobs , better pay, better schools, and seeing having home prices increase?
You’re wrong about UCSD at least in terms of engineering. Pretty high up there now. Irwin Jacobs helped transform that early on. Also the medical capabilities at UCSD is very good.
But you already have those things in LA and Bay Area. If that is what you want, move to those places. Why would you want that here? Is San Diego really lacking for anything at this point?
Again, as good a school as USCD is, it is not particularly prestigious on a National or International level. Never will be compared with UCLA or Cal. Can you name one famous alumni? Mike Judge, is the only one I can think of, he is brilliant!
You don’t have a clue. That was then and this is now. Your living in the past albeit renting in the past. It is now World renowned and academically on its way to passing UCLA some day

UCSD is already on par with UCLA as a medical research university if not ahead and climbing rapidly. Already well beyond USC

ParticipantGrow or die. We will never be LA nor do we want to be straw boy! We know growth is inevitable. Would you rather growth in poverty and homeless or growth in high paying jobs and prosperity? We are invested in SD in every way not temporary visitors with no skin in the game. We want the best for the place we love
