ParticipantThe above home is desparately in need of help and hardly in turnkey condition. Its 34 years old and has never been updated. It is located in a relatively run down part of the area with a below average elementary school for the district. This is not the kind of home young professional families are looking for.
As for the higher priced homes, sure they will come down a bit but not 20% en masse. Its gonna take time and for the time being its not looking great for bargain hunters around here. As proof of this I just saw a house go in escrow in this area well above what I ever imagined it would sell for. I spoke with the agent and she attributed it to, surprise…the lakck of available inventory in this range.

ParticipantVery sobering for John Q. I thought it was a very good show also. One thing bothered me though. The sense of entitlement by the gal in the 2BR hopuse who said it doesnt make sense to stay and that the lender should just fix her loan. My response is a resonding NO! You screwed up! Walk away if you want but you should be financially screwed for the next 5 to 10 years as punishment for your stupidity.

ParticipantWhats the big deal here. The OP is coming from DC. Of course he/she is far more politically sensitive. Talk to someone from NYC and they’ll decry the lack of good restaurants, nightlife or culture. If we were in DC we’d be crying about the lack of decent surf or outdoor activities.
Move along. Nothing to see here……….
