ParticipantActually this is no risk at all for the lender. Most all auctions have a reserve price and it is highly probable that the seller (lender) has a right of refusal of some type for the winning bid. There also may be shills at the auction as well. One never knows. Different auctions have different rules and the best way to get experience at any of them is to simply go and attend a few. The price is free and the experience is priceless.

ParticipantPretty much agree. You can always renovate, repair and remodel a home. You can never change the environmental factors around your home.

ParticipantSo your thinking of lowballing at 800k.
Think about that… you are willing to spend 800 thousand dollars to live that close to power lines…Why? As you can see from all the other posts there is an overwhelming opinion scattered with evidence that more then a few people have quite negative opinions of them. I would take the 800k and go something in old scripps south of pomerado. Seems like there would some decent alternatives. Even 4S there is some decent stuff you can buy getting into the 800s…

ParticipantThere really is not a hard number that you can grasp. As you said, it will simply affect the number of buyers who will want to buy the home in the future. More important does it affect you? If you are not concerned with any safety issues or having to look at it every day, then that is half the battle. Personally it is not something I would put up with but that is just me. Housing is way to expensive to plunk down all that money and be that close to the power lines.
