ParticipantBack on topic to OP philanthropy may be addictive and triggers same neural pleasure pathways as drygs. It’s only our frontal cortex that stops us from giving. I was reading about some stroke victims who are unable to stop giving away money and property. Intwresting. Giving may not be the selfless good moral behavior society assumes it to be. We are wired to get off on it. Biologists have theories. Or it might be because giving pleases the almighty

How do you think the fact that black people commit so much crime on everybody should be dealt with. I am talking about neighborhood level street level abuse of fellow citizens? Way skewed towards black perpetrators from muggings to thefts. What should be done about it? Fill the jails up with people who don’t commit these crimes?
It’s like crime is a way of expressing entitlement, bizarre as that may sound. I think all of us want to express entitlement one way or another and crime is just the only way some people will ever touch on it, so it’s entrenched in some circles. That’s what I see , a dark and dangerous very unprofitable sense of entitlement in a lot of crime. Maybe there is some sense of revenge or pride in it to, like fuck this guy I am taking his stereo. There is so little money in some of these crimes that even a poor person unmotivated by other things wouldn’t bother. Also so stupid you think some of these thieves and abusers want to go to jail, maybe that’s a problem, some people join the military to get taken care of and some get themselves thrown in jail.
Imprisonment does almost seem to have become a rite of passage.

The truth is there may never be any good way forward. I’m pretty sure it just keeps going like it has but worse.

I drive a lot even when not commuting Plus no-one (besides spdrun maybe) wants to pay more for gas.
No one does, but one has to admit that they keep traffic and gratuitous guzzler ownership under control.
I want gas to cost 10.00 a gallon. Maybe 15

Participant

Based on the disdain the police showed for his life isn’t the reaction to run from and avoid the logical one?
Why do cops show disdain for some people? If you want to respond by claiming racism, then explain why racism exists, particularly where cops and blacks are concerned.
racism occurs to and through people. It’s part of society. Black people are biased too v. Blacks. Self loathing. Cops esp.
It’s normal to think we’ll if only they behaved and tried like me they’d be successfull. Well cops may think that too and act with bias toward the “losers”.

Participant
Totally agree with you, flu.
This has nothing to do with racism. Yes, police brutality is an issue (unrelated to racism), but inner city crime is no less of an issue. Why isn’t anyone addressing that? Would it make us sound “racist” if we brought it up? It impacts more poor, black people than police brutality does.
Inner city crime is addressed every day. We have among the world’s highest rates of imprisonment and a frighteningly disproportionate number of blacks are incarcerated or on probation or parole.
