Participant“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people”.
maybe marx would rewrite it today with zoloft for opium.

Participantwhere in the bible does it say have fun?
i thought the idea was help those who are in trouble or suffer eternally?
matthew 25
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

Participant
Obviously, we all have the option of believing or not believing. To each his or her own. Guess we’ll all find out when we take our last breath–for which there is no option.
presumes some form of consciousness after death that will know.
we wont know because there is no condciousness after death. we would only know if there is an afterlife, not if there isn’t .
which is the beauty of the whole heaven scheme. absolutely unproveable, zero evidence.
of course, he could appear at any moment. if only he wanted to. .

Participantwe cant know if there’s a heaven because no one comes back.
however we can know some of religions failings because hardcore christians abandon their faith sometimes and report back their prior delusions .

Participantits different.
christianity in us is political power.
also christians prosyletize like crazy. in fact the bible commands them so…if someone is trying to sell you something and it sucks, or is useless or doesnt work, you are allowed to tell then so…
if its not offensive for a chridtian to “share” his faith [in what is really the single most obnoxious sales pitch of all time]..and pity your lack of salvation….its not offensive to say why its wrongheaded. yelp.
i remember when religion was…private…
not so in your face
and what is with the anti abortion shit. the bible exolicitly says a fetus is NOT the equivalent of a human, see above. jesus never said boo about fetuses. the christian right judt made that ABORTION IS MURDER shit up.
its all political…bullshit…
furthermore, if you really have faith, some dope on the internet wont upset you unless.. theres some truth to what hes saying…
like bikes…if you rant about how dangerous and stupid and backwards they are, i wont be offended. ill just think you are sad and lost and deluded and foolish. and missing out on a beautiful thing
the real and growing threat isnt atheism…
at least thats acknowledging g-d.
the threat is apatheism.
that the whole topic is irrelevant
which really is where i need to get…
but the CHRISTIANS ARE SO LOUD AND PUSHY…and republican…
i did have a nice talk w sone muslim prosyletizers in Balboa park, not about allah but about islamic banking, home loans and the prohibition on interest workarounds.
those guys were chill and humble because they know theyre hated
Christians just like to PRETEND theyre a hated outsider group. if they really were theyd be chill too.

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
i definitely agree with G-d that a fetus isnt a person and killing one should be punishable by a fine.
G-d, aka jesus, said it pretty clearly in Exodus 21:22‑23, where Scripture states: “When men fight and one of them pushes a pregnant woman and a miscarriage results, but no other misfortune ensues, the one responsible shall be fined as the woman’s husband may exact from him, the payment to be based on judges’ reckoning.

Participantcertainly dont want to irritate Him in the extremely unlikely event he exists by my presumptuously spelling out His name. same reason i wear a yarmulke.
i mean, come on, obviously all religion is a giant scam, and G-d is a creation of our own anxiety and need to belong to a group that excludes others, and a need to control each other, but one never knows. it’s maybe possible He exists…in some Universe of the infinite universes, an angry G-d who doesnt speak or apparently care about human suffering is angered by the uncovered head or his name spelled out and had a kid who he conspired to torture or at least failed to protect in orderto save our eternal souls, through some leap in logic which only nakes sense if you believe, even though its crazy sounding on the surface of it…torturw, zombie jesus, miracles..
based on pascals wager we should probably all just sincerely believe everything is true though. so i accept Him as my personal savior, praise allah. also, ill keep koshe, just in case. .
but not sure that will technically work .
anyway costco closes on easter. pretty irritating. i believe in Jesus, but theres nothing in scripture about shutting down commerce in Gods chosen nation on Easter.
