lostkitty, although I was raise Catholic, I’m like you, not religious at all. To me God is nature/the universe. And one certainly doesn’t need a religious God to be blessed.

cyphire, I too am pissed at Bush. He’s taking this country down hill. When I have kids (most likely adopt from Africa), I’ll have to take them overseas for the summer so they aren’t brainwashed by their classmates.

No one is bashing faith and Christianity. The topic come up organically because of the Temecula scam — the core clients are feigning ignorance because they are Christians and were duped by Christians.
jg, the fervent Catholic among us, is the one who normally instigages religious topics. And like jg said, one should have thicker skin.
Religion is like Real Estate. If you’re so confident of your decision to buy (or not), then you don’t care what others think. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Maybe we should encourage the serving of transfat and high-sodium dishes in retirement centers. The food at Denny’s is so salty that I’m sure a few will die from it, haha.

Also don’t forget interest on the $170k downpayment, money that would sit idle if you had put it towards a house.
From what I understand, all of 5th Avenue will be condo row, from Hillcrest to Downtown, so you’ll have plenty of choices in Bankers Hill as time progresses. At the rate you’re going, you’ll be able to pay cash for a top floor condo at the trough. Great job!!
Keep on tracking the buy vs. rent scenarios and update us on your progress as times goes by. It’ll be a good learning experience for us all.

I went to the Getty Villa with a friend this past Monday. They have wonderful exhibits of Greco-Roman artifacts. There’s a big map of ancient Greece and Turkey on the wall, but only Greece was clearly labeled. A white man and his son had no idea what the area of the Black Sea (Turkey, Romania and Ukraine) were.
I meet so many people, supposedly Christians, who don’t even know the history of Christianity and the history of Judeo Christian values they are so proud of. They just know to show up in Church and sing.

In order to belong, and to operate (as physicians operate their businesses) you have to say that you believe in God, any God but in God you must believe.
My dad tells me that the people in his neighborhood ask him to join the church all the time. He once said that he has arthritis and prays at home just to get them out of his hair. Of course, once they hear you’re old with health ailments, they tell you that faith can help ease your pain. But in reality, they try even harder to get you to join the church in hope that when you die you’ll leave them a big legacy.
Now, when the neighbors ask him about church, he tells them he attends services with his children in Los Angeles.
