Participantjg, the story of the university president is fascinating. It would make a great novel. It reminds me of the movie _Damage_ with Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche (also based on a novel).
LA Renter, I agree with you. In my opinion, the Patriot Act is leading us down the path to a military government (aka fascism). The price of liberty is that we have some prostitution, some drugs, some crime, and yes, some terrorism. I would rather have that kind of liberty than a world where every action is scrutinized and examined in the name of security.

ParticipantI could not see find it on ziprealty.com.
The big loss is perhaps why they’re doing a FSBO?PerryChase
ParticipantWe don’t need to support Jim. He can support himself. Being a good Realtor requires good discipline and saving for the rainy days. Every business owner will tell you so. You have to plan for the cycles.
Here’s a link to The Big Picture. It’s a great analysis of the NAR ad “It’s a great time to buy or sell a home.” There is your real desperation.

ParticipantLet’s look at it this way. If Realtors can have flyers and newspaper ads showing sold and listings, and if realtors can show comps to their clients (or anyone who asks), then I don’t see anything wrong with posting on your blog.
The only thing is that property owners may not want their houses featured. But that’s not for them to decide — the information is public.
I would use the youtube.com policy. If anyone contacts you asking that their information be removed, then you should promptly comply.

Participantocrenter, i love your blog. Why don’t you yjust give us the full addresses and MLS #s? The information is public so why not make it easy for us to look up the properties for ourselves? Thanks.

ParticipantI didn’t even know who Haggard was until yesterday.
I grew up a Catholic and I find the evangelical services so not spiritual. It’s like going to a sales convention.
Interesting youtube.com video on Haggard. He sounds so arrogant and I’m glad that he got exposed.

ParticipantI think that powayseller is absolutely correct. However, pointing out a person’s defects or motivations to his face is never polite. Like my mom told me, there are certain things that you know or think but you may never talk about.
powayseller could have simply said “I beg to differ with Jim; Jim is a Realtor so please view his comments in that light. Now here what I think the market will do ….” We’re not in front of a Jury so there is no need to debunk someone’s argument. The exception is David Lereah or GWB, ha.ha. Actually, I think that powayseller’s style is kinda like Donald Rumsfeld’s (which I kinda like).

ParticipantI have Internet addiction. I take my laptop into the bathroom and the kitchen. I rationalize it by saying that my laptop is like a magazine. 🙂

ParticipantNew York City people are friendly in their own way. You have to “get” the sarcasm. I asked a ticket controller for directions and he said ” just follow the signs.” On the bus to the airport, an elderly Asian woman with bad English was asking for help exiting at the proper stop. She was worried about missing her stop. The driver kept on shaking his head and saying “I didn’t tell you this was the stop yet.” New Yorkers are cynical and sarcastic… That’s just they way the are. They think that we Californians are plastic smiley people.

ParticipantThere’s a wide right-wing conspiracy out there. To date I still have not received my absentee ballot (neither have some other relatives). I’m going to have to go to the polls.

ParticipantI think that powayseller is right. However it would’ve phrased the way jg recommended: “Jim’s a broker, so you should view his comments in that light.”
Can I have my cake and eat it too?
I believe that picking a point and assuming an appreciation rate from there is the wrong approach. Pricing should be determined relative to purchasing power. If food and medicine, transportation and education skyrocket, home prices will certainly drop even if inflation is high.
Some of you guys are too antsy to have your predictions vindicated. It’s only been a short time. Let time pass. Be patient. Don’t get emotional or take it personally.

ParticipantI don’t believe that there’s any risk of foreigners rapatriating their money in the near future (next 5 years). The US is still the standard of stability.
However, the US is taking on a big future risk. It all depends on how China, India and the European Union manage their economies.

ParticipantWay to go, socalrenter. 🙂

Participant….. because it’s not misbehaving at all. It’s misbehaving only if you say so. Sex is a normal part of life. What’s wrong with it?
