ParticipantLooks like LCV is finally taking a pretty substantial hit. Seems like the people who moved up at the peak with big down payments are all going to end up losing everything. Makes you start to wonder just how many people actually had the discipline to cash out in 2004-2006 and sit on the sidelines in a rental ready to pounce on the current “deals”. Probably not too many.

Participant“I knew that math was an area where I would never, ever worry about getting a job as a teacher. If you’re in math or physics or chemistry, you can write your own ticket.”
If you go into teaching for the money and job security you are going to be tremendously disappointed … which it sounds like this lady is.
If you can tell yourself that you love teaching so much that you would gladly do it for free then you might be a good teaching candidate. Then you still have to find out if you are any good at it. Being a good teacher is a difficult and under appreciated grind. If you are not good at it, you will find that it can be a humbling and sometimes even humiliating career choice.

Participantsdr, you are close on location (we were north of Leucadia Blvd) but your point is well taken.
Places like LCV and the Ranch are certainly more family friendly but at the time we just had to have the big view! (didn’t have kids yet lol)

ParticipantNavydoc, one thing you might not have considered is that landscaping and maintaining a large lot in San Diego is very expensive … especially relative to what you are used to on the east coast.
I am not familiar with Stonebridge but if you are going that far inland you might want to consider getting a newer house in north Poway that has a finished landscape. There are some pretty good deals up there these days and most of them do not have Mello Roos.
Here is one example … there are others:
