ParticipantI would prefer to have an alley home. It hides the garage and a lot of cars. It also provides a slightly safer place for kids to ride bikes, etc.

ParticipantI went to the opening of the first subdivision in Stonebridge. The huge number of people was a sight to see. They had tables set up in the street to handle all of the potential buyers. Most of the lookers and most of the people going over the contracts were Asian.
In the Cays in Coronado, there is a large of amount of foreign money. There are many rich Mexicans and a mix of other foreign accents. However, there aren’t really that many Asians.

ParticipantIt is nice to have the following:
No home value depreciation eating away at our net worth
Less monthly cost (rent vs mortgage)
Previous home equity now making money in other investments
win, win, win ๐BTW, I know someone who is about to buy for the first time in a fringe area in CA. They are streeeeeetching for the purchase, their financial situation is bad, they are only going to be there a couple of years before they will be forced to transfer and they know they will not be able to afford the difference between ownership costs and what they can get for rent for the property. They don’t want to “throw their money away by renting anymore.” Sigh…. It is hard to watch people you know giddily throw themselves off a cliff without a parachute while yelling, “It’s going to be a soft landing!”
I passed along my opinion and it was thrown out with the garbage.

ParticipantThanks for your updates. I look forward to them.

ParticipantTheBreeze, I have no trouble believing PP went to Harvard. His arguments are reasoned and informative. I also have no trouble believing that you went to the school of Name Calling With Little Substance. I have a clear vision in my mind of you typing away with a curled lip and an “I’m fabulous” tee-shirt.
I’m curious as what name you are going to call me? Will it be an old standby? How about Stupid or Idiot? No? Maybe you will branch out and expand your horizons.
I’m in a fever of anticipation.PD
ParticipantWe rented a townhouse in Aliso Viejo in ’92. The landlord paid 170k for it (I’m not sure when). In ’95 he offered it to us for 130k. We said no (doh!). As of the most recent peak, it was worth 650k.

ParticipantHmm….
Pelosi makes a visit, hostages are released, therefore, Pelosi caused the hostages to be released.I walked out to my mailbox on Tuesday, there is mail there on Wednesday, therefore, I caused mail to be delivered to my mailbox.
Many children believe in the Easter Bunny, there are eggs hidden on Easter Sunday and a basket full of goodies waiting, therefore, the Easter Bunny is real.

ParticipantDo you have active/pending for 92118?
Thanks!PD
ParticipantI caught a lot of flak from a relative for selling. She has lately been talking about how smart we are. ๐ The sad thing is that if she had sold when I advised her sell, they would have some cash. As it is now, she is underwater and has since lost her job. ๐ Things are about to get very ugly for her.

ParticipantIt is interesting that Feb 27 was predicted to be turning point in the business cycle. April 23, 2009 is the next turning point. ….Perhaps a buy spot for RE?

ParticipantThe change really only affects two things:
It cuts way down on the traffic on the block of Alameda between 3rd and 4th.
It reduces backed-up traffic at Alameda and 4th.
Thats about it.PD
Participant3rd will now end at the new gate. You will no longer turn left on Alameda to get to the entrance. From the drawings, it looks like you will still exit at the old gate and continue straight down 4th.
It doesn’t sound like much is happening with the tunnel.
I think the measure to restrict splitting lots passed. However, there will be legal issues with it. I thought it was BS and a classic example of, “I’ve got mine and now I’m going to prevent others from having it too.”PD
ParticipantPerry, I sooooo don’t believe that you have a girlfriend – unless she was born with guy equipment. ๐
What straight guy would change his dog’s bedding every day? I got a nice chuckle out of that one. It is also just a little funny that you would run all those extra loads of clothes when you are trying to conserve energy.PD
ParticipantPerry, you are turning yourself inside out trying to make excuses for Gore. We have a new one – he is a Hollywood celebrity.
With money, just about anything is possible, including new windows that look original. Solar isn’t the only way to be green.
At the very least, he should be looking into ways to cut down his own consumption. If he was actually trying to be environmentaly friendly himself, we would have heard about it in his Gore commercial…er, film.
Clearly, you are a Gore fan and refuse to see even the smallest hypocrisy. You appear to drinking the koolaid…er, eating the caviar. -
