Sorry, but SE RIV County is not exactly what residents of other states (who can afford to move their families to CA) dream about. IOW, they don’t sit on the porch swing of their 3000+ ft spread in TX and say, “Hey, let’s pack up and move to Moreno Valley (or Menifee), CA!
The vast majority of foreign RE buyers in CA using all cash have a legal right to be in this country (even if “temporary”).
You’re so right BG, and do these “Valley of the Dirt People” even deserve to call themselves Californian’s?
I’m sure that after watching a Baywatch Marathon – these same people were definitely dreaming about moving to Clairmont – woo hoo!!

My feeling is you NEVER stop learning and there are always people smarter than me/you/etc. You never stop learning and you should always want to learn a bit each day. At least that’s what I try to do.

I feel the same way, I’ve become an intellectual grazer (not gayzer).
In 2008 I had the financial aptitude of Maureen O’Connor.
Then I got burned during the crash. I was pissed and still am to an extent.
Then I started reading Piggington, Mish Shedlock, Peter Schiff, etc….daily.
One of the most important things I’ve learned is to consult with people smarter than me when possible.

Participantflu: Over the years I’ve learned a lot from your posts, and you’re way smarter than I am.
Let’s face it, there’s a reason I live in Temecula and you live in CV (or other 1%er area).
That being said, I could rattle off an impressive list of names and institutions saying we will likely be in a recession by the end of the year – maybe severe.
As has been said, if you think the Obama recovery sucked, just wait until the Obama crash hits.
Or is an area like CV essentially immune from economic contraction?

Participant
That’s easy, Paramount. There was no fire triangle path to the drivers license. for some reason.
For instance, if Dorner were laying on top of it and he did not burn completely through the license would be like new. What difference does it really make anyway. He’s dead.
In reading the report, the wallet was NOT under Dorner’s body.
In addition, we have the following:
According to reports, the boat’s prop became fouled and the gunman was not able to operate the boat. The gunman in the attempted “boat-jacking” was described as a heavyset man in his 30s dressed in black clothing — and officers are awaiting forensics testing to positively determine whether the suspect is, in fact, the 270-pound, 6-foot-tall Dorner, Hassen said. Dorner’s wallet, containing his identification, was found near San Diego’s Lindbergh Field on Feb. 7.
and…
Investigators say Dorner attempted to steal a boat in San Diego and drive it to Mexico. Dorner’s wallet, including his identification cards, was also found at the San Ysidro Point of Entry near the U.S.-Mexico border, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Maybe the police lied (not a surprise), maybe he had multiple wallets (I sort of doubt that), maybe the reporting was wrong.
Or maybe were being lied to now.

ParticipantSo let me get this straight: The cabin burned to the ground, body severely charred and yet his drivers license survived?
And I thought his wallet/ID had been left in San Diego?

So it’s basically upper middle class job transfers.

Well that leaves me out…

ParticipantI just bought a dishwasher today at the sears outlet @ Carmel Mountain. I think you can get a ok deal there.
They have a decent selection, and you can pick it up today.
I just bought a cheapy, when it breaks I just toss them and buy a new one – I think they’re all basically the same.

ParticipantI’ve been reading a book called:
Black Rednecks and White Liberals by Thomas Sowell.
It is an excellent book, and has me thinking I should relocate to NY or Boston, maybe even VT.
Picking up on what spdrun said, outside of NE and maybe San Francisco and a few other areas, I’ve always felt a lack of civility in this country – the dominant redneck culture that is so pervasive.

UPDATED: Los Angeles police officers were administering “street justice” when they opened fire on two newspaper carriers on a Torrance street as they protected a captain’s house from suspected gunman Christopher Dorner, an attorney said Friday.
Police opened fire. A neighbor said he heard as many as 20 shots.
Beck called it a case of mistaken identity.
Jonas called it something else.
“It’s obvious that police wanted to execute this guy,” Jonas said. “They forgot the reason there are rules of engagement. Thank God nobody is dead. It’s street justice. That’s always unacceptable.”
Jonas said that although he understands it was before dawn, the women were driving a “really bright, super shiny royal blue” Toyota Tacoma, nothing like Dorner’s truck.

ParticipantBased on what I’ve seen on property wars, Phoenix seems ok.

ParticipantA little off topic, but in the interest of reducing the probability of interfacing with the police consider buying a radar/laser detector.
It’s really easy to exceed the speed limit downhill, and we all know these revenue generators love to sit at the bottom of a long downhill grade.
This detector is just over $40 bucks and has great reviews – could save you a lot more than $40 bucks:
