Participant
Yes, he was largely right. He’s one of the greatest economic philosophers in history. Like him or not, he was brilliant.
I’ve found that the **vast majority** of people who put down Marx and/or his theories have never actually read Marx. Most haven’t read Adam Smith, either.
Is it brilliant to theorize that a brain surgeon and a janitor should be paid the same? No, and that’s essentially what Marx claims.

The world definitely seems to be evolving into a more hostile environment on all fronts, but it really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise when you realize, even in the US, much of the population are literally fighting for their lives when it comes to things like long-term financial security/survival (and all that
includes–jobs, retirement, education, housing–etc.) for themselves and their families. Since a lot of anger goes along with that, it does tend to create chaos in society at many levels.
+1
As population continues to increase so will conflict.

Participant
I’m actually sick of ill bred people. No respect for social conventions, bad manners, kids out of contol, trashy behavior. It’s an epidemic.
Honestly – in places like San Diego, Vegas I could totally see that being the case. But it isn’t an epidemic in Temecula (seriously) at all.
Why? Because Temecula is a conservative area where people have common sense/strong work ethics combined with great traditional/family values. Temecula is a very low crime area for good reasons.
And because it’s affordable to live in Temecula, many families have one parent stay at home to raise their children (a novel concept these days…).

common sense says acting like and ass or being hysterical isn’t going to work.

I thought you were referring to the cop.

Participant
Cops in CA have legal protection under the cloak of express and implied immunity for their actions. ALL of their (official) duties are presumably performed within the line of duty and thus they are legally “immune” from their actions. Absent a jury verdict to the contrary, CA cops will continue to get away with the way they operate. In the presence of a jury verdict for the plaintiff/victim, the offending cop(s) will be summarily slapped on the wrist and told by their Dept to shore up their “attitude” going forward … “or else.”
That’s the way the “system” works, folks.
Yet another reason to either leave the state or work to break ALL public employee unions in California.

The woman was pulled over for a seatbelt violation, was it her belt or the kids? Was it her kid’s and she told the cop to mind his own business? Did she just get hysterical and refuse to take a ticket? Did she “go off ” for some other reason. I am pretty sure she “went off”. But I don’t know.
It’s pure speculation – she may have went off because she wasn’t doing anything wrong – following a verbal assualt by cops.
The seatbelt violation was trumped up and phony, it was a fraudulent excuse to retaliate (most likely).

Participant
Do you honestly believe they just started beating her up for no reason?
No, I don’t.
They beat her up because she called into HQ with a complaint and they decided to retaliate.
As pointed out, a gang/criminal organization would do the same thing.

Participant
But the Carlsbad police officer who responded to the call saw that the boy was freaking out — he thought he was going to jail — and gave a public education demonstration to the kids, showing them all the gear they wear and answering questions the kids had, etc., instead of threatening and berating us. He was **amazing** in the way he handled everything. And that was just one incident; we’ve had others that were also very positive.
I agree with meadandale and blogstar. We are only shown a video of what happened after-the-fact. She might be a middle-aged white woman driving a minivan with two kids in it, but that doesn’t mean she’s a model citizen. It was pretty clear in this video that she was putting up a fight and resisting arrest. We really can’t make a determination based on this short snippet of a video. We need to see and hear the entire story in order to make an informed judgment.
Pretty sad when for no particular reason *not* getting beat up by the police qualifies as an amazing experience.
CAR, if the police are beating you up protecting yourself is not resisting arrest. Well, maybe it is in an socialist/authoritarian fascist police state.
If video existed out there to counter this video account of police brutality, it would be out there. It isn’t, because it doesn’t exist.
In a free society you have the right to defend yourself.

Have you checked out Bernie Sanders?
Even his opponents respect him. He’s … has no baggage.

No baggage? How about advocating/voting for the destruction of families? That’s what socialists do via the welfare state.
Bernie Sanders on family values:
FWIW, I agree that children do best when they are raised by both of their parents in the same household (every study bears this out). But I don’t believe that welfare is solely responsible for the disintegration of the traditional family unit in the U.S. It might have some effect, but it’s a much more complex issue. Divorce laws, especially “no-fault” divorce, have played a major role. The social push to not judge those who disregard their obligations to their families is also a part of the problem. The social pressure to pretend that marriage is an “obsolete” tradition is a big part of it, too.
It’s a complex problem, but ALL of us have to accept responsibility for our part in it.
Well stated and I agree. And from my perspective I much prefer Sanders over that “other” candidate (hrod).

Participant

What about these high profile jerks flying around in private jets pointing their finger at you and your vw?
This reminds me of obamacare->the ptb’s force it on the peasants/commoners, but absolutely don’t want it for themselves.
Take off your leash….
What about those high profile jerks? What’s the question, exactly?
Which ptb’s are rejecting the obamacare requirement for health insurance and going uninsured? Or is there some other aspect of obamacare that they “don’t want for themselves?”
You’re the one wearing a leash. A leash made of misdirection and emotional manipulation and placed there by the right-wing noise machine. A leash made so that you can be led to the opinion that government is bad and that corporations (which fund the right-wing noise machine) are good and fair and being screwed by the government.
All I know is corporations don’t point guns at you, government does…

ParticipantFor thousands of years humanity has figured out ways to move water from where it is, to where it’s needed.
I want my kids to play soccer on natural grass, not a rug.
Yes, So Cal is essentially an arid desert region.
I don’t care – I want green lush landscapes and parks, not a bleak depressing landscape of rocks and outdoor carpet.
Private sector workers of California: You’re paying for a 1st Class ticket, but were sitting in the middle row at the back of a Southwest plane with no nuts. Where’s the money going? Where’s the water?
We should already have 50 desal plants along the coast.
Please, go ahead and take a shower (without guilt) and ignore the radicals.
And don’t forget to flush the toilet!
