ParticipantOn December 2, 2015, husband and wife Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik shot and killed 14 people and injured 21 others at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, United States. They targeted a San Bernardino County Department of Public Health training event and holiday party with about 80 employees in attendance at an auditorium rented for the event.

Participant
If you use all cash, then you might be surveilled. plus you lose credit card points for free stuff.
You know, the reason there are fewer robberies in richer areas is because people don’t carry cash anymore. And richer people are likely to have security cameras.
But I get why you feel cash transactions are more desirable. But it would take a total change of thinking for people do that.
I carry cash to pay at gas stations (that give cash discounts) and restaurants, because I don’t want mom and pop stores to pay transaction fees. Plus sometimes I buy stuff from private sellers who want cash only.
But personal property confiscation by cop is very routine. They take your stuff and ask questions later. A friend of a friend was arrested at a bar in Florida recently (he was drunk and chucked a billiard ball at another customer) Cops took his wallet and his phone. He had an Apple watch that the cops didn’t take so he was able to alert his friends from the back the of patrol car. Alcohol makes you do stupid shit.

That was a very good article and points out in many many cases this is just the govt/police literally stealing/highway robbery. I call it tyranny.
It speaks to the importance of knowing and using your rights. To many have a Mayberry mind model of the police.
As far as taking personal items from a drunk in a bar, that’s not civil forfeiture.

ParticipantScaredy: most piggs are leftists, I’m an independent libertarian- but aren’t we all capitalists? Or is Karl wearing off on you? Go out and buy stuff you don’t need this is America. I would if I could, I’m in Chicago and broke from paying tolls.

Kind of silly to worry about something we can’t control. The time to act was when bush Cheney set the end of the wold in motion. But there was nothing that could’ve been done then either.
I wouldn’t underestimate the power of the people.

I feel no solidarity with any nation or group or ethos.
Just a vague sympathy with Abrahams G-ds impulse to wipe us all off the face of the earth. Our ceaseless desire to hurt and dominate. Our absurd certain types in our correctness. The mess we make at every turn.
And test I think it’s women’s fault as much as men
Sounds right; just over a week ago 224 died in a plane crash most likely caused by terrorism. No significant reaction.
Flight 17 shot down over Ukraine. No significant reaction.
