ParticipantI am certainly not here to cast judgement on anyone, but I absolutely can’t imagine ever risking my house/shelter/security to try to get rich quick.
Back in 2004-05 we had a “friend” a real estate person who tried to convence my husband and me that we should take equity from our home and parlay it into 5 or 6 other houses. We about fell off of the couch laughing, and he couln’t get over how “financially conservative” we were. He assurd us we were missing out. In fact he did dip into his home equity and buy 5 more houses, we didn’t and here we sit in our 1 and only 22 year old sfr, and a mortgage I could make working at Baskin’ Robbins.
I often wonder how much sleep he gets at night? I bet not as much as we do, lol.novice1027

ParticipantTemculaguy,
I was able to work a pretty good deal. I had a very small area, so I got a remnant. They threw in quite a bit of extra turf.
We installed it ourselves, so I think it was about grand all up for about a 600-700 sq ft area. That’s off of the top of my head.
It far out weighs the cost for the instant and constant green lawn. I believe it has a 10 year warrenty.
When it gets dirty you can put simple green or even bleach on it. I haven’t had to yet, got it in September.
We are very pleased with it.novice1027

ParticipantPersonally, I love my fake grass in the back yard. No water bills, the dog dosen’t kill it, and it looks great all of the time. It feels a little wierd, but who cares, it’s not like I roll around on it.
Maybe the HOA’s can take all of their money and lay that in the front lawns?novice1027

ParticipantAnyone living on a med tech and RN salary, who thought they were going to make 300% return on their investments, espceially the Irag currency, deserve to loose everything they have.
Too bad their kids have such stupid, greedy parents!!!novice1027

Participant23109Vc,
As long as you can afford it now, then go for it.
Back in 1991, I was one of the “clueless” ones, had no idea what was going on in the real estate market, not even sure I knew there was one.
I bought my house when things were starting to tank around me. I paid $185K watched the houses around me drop to $135k, thought I would be sick.
Now here I am, in a house the got up to 600K, now on the way down, but what do I care? I live in a nice house with a $700/mo payment. All I cared about at the time was “what is the monthly payment?”
So maybe sometimes too much info is not necessarily a good thing.March 30, 2007 at 10:59 PM in reply to: Free gas for a year with the purchase of this house in Murrieta #48814novice1027
ParticipantMust be a meth lab close by, cuz I’m a thinkin they are smokin some crack out there!!!
And for $680K you too can have nice linoleum floors, cool!novice1027
ParticipantIf you have to borrow 4.4 million dollars to “invest” you derserve to loose your shirt. How bloody stupid and greedy are people??
